Job Overview

The Lead Structure Engineer will be responsible for leading the design and coordination of steel structural systems for the construction project. This includes overseeing the preparation of design drawings and calculations, ensuring compliance with codes and standards, and providing technical support during fabrication and erection. The role requires strong expertise in steel design, multidisciplinary coordination, and site-level problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design of steel structures including frames, trusses, connections, and supports.

Review and approve structural drawings, design calculations, and fabrication details.

Ensure compliance with relevant codes (IS, AISC, Eurocode, BS) and project specifications.

Coordinate with architects, civil, and MEP teams for integrated design solutions.

Provide technical support during steel fabrication and erection phases.

Review shop drawings, material submittals, and connection details.

Conduct structural analysis using appropriate software and validate design assumptions.

Resolve design-related issues and support site teams with timely solutions.

Participate in design review meetings and client presentations.

Mentor junior structural engineers and ensure quality control of deliverables.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.

Minimum 10 years of experience in steel structure design and detailing.

Professional certification (e.g., Chartered Engineer, PE, SE) is preferred.

Experience in industrial, commercial, or infrastructure steel projects.

Desired Skillsets

Proficiency in structural design software such as STAAD Pro, Tekla Structures, ETABS, SAP2000, and AutoCAD.

Strong understanding of steel grades, fabrication techniques, and connection design.

Excellent analytical, coordination, and communication skills.

Familiarity with BIM workflows and integration with steel detailing.

Ability to manage multiple design packages and deliver under tight deadlines.
