About UK Assessment & Qualifications

We are responsible for the delivery of nearly 4 million examination results per annum, including A-Level, GCSE, BTEC and T-levels for students in UK and International centres. Our in-house systems process every learner from registration to marking and certification, in a highly regulated business. We currently operate a hybrid estate of predominantly bespoke systems, with an ongoing strategic transformation programme to migrate from on-prem to cloud based, cost effective, scalable and resilient services.

About The Job

As a Technical Architect, you will design and implement robust architectures for well-defined products and services, with a special focus on .NET solutions in Azure.

You'll translate business and functional specifications into scalable, maintainable systems, guiding your immediate team through technical decisions and hands-on code reviews. Your work ensures that our solutions are secure, reliable, and aligned with enterprise standardshelping developers deliver high-quality products that meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable .NET architectures within Azure, ensuring solutions are secure, maintainable and aligned with business goals.
  • Translate business and functional specifications into practical, technical solutions that fit within organizational standards.
  • Conduct hands-on reviews of code and designs, providing actionable feedback to improve quality and maintainability.
  • Share technical advice and best practices with immediate team members, fostering a collaborative and learning-focused environment.
  • Take responsibility for clearly-scoped technical decisions, proactively resolving blockers and ensuring smooth integration between system components.
  • Apply cloud computing, security, and AI concepts to enhance system performance and reliability.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Deep proficiency in .NET development and Azure cloud services.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture principles, information security and systems development life cycle.
  • Experience with code review, infrastructure as code (IaC), and cloud computing.
  • Ability to apply artificial intelligence conceptssuch as pattern recognition, automation, or content generationto technical solutions.
  • Effective problem-solving, adaptability, and technical acumen.
  • Commitment to collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

Desirable Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing .NET solutions in Azure.
  • Experience conducting code reviews and sharing technical guidance.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, security best practices, and AI-powered features is a plus.

Job Location and Hours

The role is aligned to our Bangalore or Chennai offices in India, working a 45 hour week 9am to 6pm IST. All our roles are hybrid working; our current policy requires our team to work from their base office 3 times per week.

For this role there is a requirement to provide occasional out of hours support during business critical periods.
