Job Description

Williams-Sonoma India is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer (Vertex) to shape and execute the technical roadmap for tax and finance platforms. This role combines deep expertise in Oracle ERP Cloud Financials and Vertex tax solutions with strong architectural leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

About The Role

As a Lead Software Engineer (Vertex), you will play a critical role in shaping and executing the technical roadmap for tax and finance platforms at Williams-Sonoma Inc. You will partner closely with business, finance, and technology teams to deliver scalable, compliant, and high-performing tax and financial solutions that support multiple markets and legal entities globally.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the creation and refinement of the technical roadmap for Vertex and Oracle domains.
• Influence key architectural and technology stack decisions.
• Identify technical debt and proactively plan for its reduction.
• Evaluate new tools, frameworks, and third-party services for security, scalability, and ecosystem fit.
• Explore emerging Oracle Cloud and Vertex capabilities and conduct proof of concepts (POCs).
• Facilitate discussions across diverse technical teams and drive consensus on enterprise-wide solutions.
• Identify pragmatic compromises when ideal solutions are not feasible for all stakeholders.
• Work with business teams to understand financial and tax requirements.
• Configure and customize Oracle Financial modules and Vertex tax solutions for multiple legal entities.
• Integrate Vertex with ERP systems for Sales and Use Tax.
• Perform thorough testing to ensure solution accuracy and reliability.
• Provide training, ongoing support, and maintain configuration and troubleshooting documentation.
  
  

Criteria

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Bachelor's/master's degree in computer science or engineering is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience implementing Vertex tax solutions for Sales and Use Tax.
• 10+ years of experience with Oracle ERP Cloud Financials including GL, AP, AR, FA, and Projects.
• Experience with Certificate Exemption processes in Vertex O.
• Strong understanding of global tax laws and compliance requirements.
• Experience leading cross-domain and cross-functional teams.
