Role

MARS Cosmetics is hiring a Software Engineer Lead to build and lead internal software, automation, and AI systems across the organisation. This role is for someone who can combine strong engineering judgment with speed, product sense, and practical business understanding.

You will work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to turn operational complexity into simple, scalable software.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead development of internal tools, workflow systems, dashboards, and automation layers across functions.
2. Drive AI adoption in practical business use cases such as knowledge search, reporting, decision support, content workflows, and process automation.
3. Architect scalable, maintainable systems while keeping execution fast and pragmatic.
4. Translate ambiguous business problems into clear product and engineering solutions.
5. Build and mentor a small engineering team over time.
6. Establish engineering standards across code quality, system design, reliability, documentation, and security.
7. Integrate internal systems across business tools, databases, APIs, and external platforms.

What We're Looking For

1. Strong full-stack or backend engineering capability with solid system design skills.
2. Experience building real products, internal platforms, or workflow software from scratch.
3. Strong understanding of APIs, databases, integrations, and modern software architecture.
4. Practical experience with AI-enabled applications, LLM workflows, automations, or internal copilots.
5. Ability to operate with high ownership in a fast-moving environment.
6. Strong product thinking and business empathy.
7. Someone who builds, simplifies, and ships not just manages.

Preferred

1. Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, SQL, and modern web stacks.
2. Familiarity with React, Node.js, Next.js, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, cloud deployment, and workflow automation.
3. Experience working across ops, sales, supply chain, finance, or marketing systems is a plus.
4. Prior experience leading engineers or owning technical direction is preferred.
