As a FinOps Lead Software Engineer - Vice President at JPMorgan Chase within the International Consumer Bank you will help to drive cost optimisation and efficiency in cloud environments. This is a hands-on role helping Chase UK drive cost efficiencies in our cloud environments, by aligning FinOps capabilities to continuously optimise spend and deliver maximum value from our public cloud investment. You will operate and develop cloud-native services that support Chase UK using technologies such as Golang, AWS, Kubernetes, Cockroach, Terraform and Kafka to promote automation and enhance the developer experience. Collaborating with skilled colleagues, you will contribute to architectural decisions and foster a culture of FinOps best practice. Your efforts will have a direct impact on the reliability, scalability, security and cost effectiveness of our digital banking platform.

Job responsibilities:

  • Examine, analyse, prioritise cloud cost optimisation recommendations and calculate potential savings and benefits using FinOps tools

  • Implement rate and usage optimisations within public cloud environments - ()

  • Guide end users and development teams in making cost-effective architectural, operational and performance decisions

  • Communicate FinOps principles to key stakeholders and leadership - through identifying waste and producing/maintain a range of dashboards

  • Collaborate with other teams to design and implement cost optimisations recommendations and best practices and build and manage a backlog of cost-saving initiatives - ()

  • Architect and develop automation runbooks to help drive cloud cost efficiencies, along with continual development of Policy as Code initiatives, further bolstering Cloud Cost Governance

  • Be a key contact and owner of FinOps specific applications/processes, ensuring compliance and documentation is up to date at all times - ()

  • Understand and leverage the opportunities/challenges presented by AI for FinOps practicioners

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Hands on experience implementing FinOps to optimize AWS cloud costs, with deep understanding of levers available to optimize cloud costs - beyond basic savings plans

  • Strong understanding of the FinOps Foundation Framework, capabilities, lifecycle and domains

  • Formal training and 5+ years applied experience developing and maintaining applications in the public cloud - ()

  • Experience managing public cloud infrastructure using infra-as-code technologies - ()

  • Hands on experience with native and 3rd party public cloud cost management tools - ( )

  • Good knowledge of AWS Networking and Kubernetes clusters operations - ()

  • Good knowledge of programming using a modern language - ()

  • Excellent understanding of DevOps principles and SDLC best practices

  • Strong numerical and finance skills to investigate data and spot trends and anomalies

  • Excellent communication and ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across different skilled teams

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Certifications such as FinOps Practitioner or FinOps Professional

  • AWS certifications such as Certified Cloud Practitioner

  • Familiar with software engineering security best practices in a cloud environment

  • Experience developing unit, integration and end-to-end software tests
