Main Purpose:
The Lead Project Engineer Offshore Installation is responsible for assisting the Project Manager in the execution of offshore engineering and installation of subsea assets such as subsea pipelines, umbilicals, risers, and subsea hardware including manifolds, control structures, and tie-ins.
Job Accountabilities:
- Responsible for coordination of activities related to offshore installation of subsea pipelines, umbilicals, risers, and subsea hardware.
- Coordinate with engineering, marine, procurement, fabrication, and construction teams to ensure timely execution of offshore installation activities.
- Coordinate the timely completion of pre-commissioning procedures and activities to ensure efficient offshore operations.
- Review and comment on offshore installation plans, method statements, lift plans, and installation sequences.
- Participate in constructability reviews conducted by Contractors and ensure salient outcomes are implemented in offshore installation procedures.
- Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, and SIMOPS workshops conducted by Contractors and ensure salient outcomes are incorporated into offshore installation procedures.
- Monitor installation progress and highlight deviations, schedule impacts, and related issues.
- Coordinate with the Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) for the review of transportation procedures, transportation analysis, offshore procedures, and installation analysis documents.
- Ensure timely coordination of Management of Change (MOC) processes for technical resolutions from Contractors and acceptance by the Marine Warranty Surveyor.
- Participate in pre-mobilisation meetings, transportation planning, progress review meetings, and demobilisation planning conducted by Contractors.
- Monitor transportation of project materials by Contractors and highlight key issues to management.
- Coordinate as-built surveys, pre-commissioning records, and other handover documentation required for the Operations Team.
- Participate in offshore installation campaigns (onboard construction vessels) to monitor construction progress and liaise with Contractors.
- Coordinate preparation of lessons learned from the Offshore Installation Team and Contractors.
- Provide technical support for change requests and claims related to the installation scope.
- Maintain project records during installation, including MOMs, daily reports, progress reports, MOCs, as-built documentation, and pre-commissioning records for final installation close-out.
- Ensure that HSE policies and applicable regulations are followed by Contractors.
Skills Required:
- Proven track record in offshore deepwater subsea installation for pipelines, risers, umbilicals, and subsea equipment, with practical experience in offshore installation campaigns and offshore vessel operations (e.g., pipelay, umbilical installation, riser installation, heavy lift operations).
- Familiarity with offshore installation equipment, including ROV operations for subsea installation.
- Experience working with Contractors and coordinating offshore installation activities.
- Good understanding of applicable codes, standards, and offshore HSE practices.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Offshore Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of experience, including at least 10 years in offshore installation, marine operations, and exposure to subsea engineering.
- Competency in engineering software and tools (e.g., MS Office, MS Project, Navisworks; pipelay/installation-specific tools are an advantage).
- Offshore certification: BOSIET/FOET or equivalent, with valid medical fitness for offshore work.
