To succeed in this role, you must possess a strong technical background in industry engineering (Process, Chemical, Petrochemical, etc.), extensive experience as a Piping and Layout specialist, and the ability to lead project teams across Ramboll's offices and geographies within the Plant Design discipline.

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Understand client needs and contract requirements for project execution.
  • Independently manage multiple projects with minimal support as part of Global Engineering.
  • Develop piping design packages across various engineering phases
  • Responsible for delivering complete Piping packages - design basis, technical specifications, piping material classes, datasheets, specifications, MTOs, TBEs, VDRs, etc.,
  • Responsible for delivering complete 3D model and drawings including plot plans, equipment layouts, piping layouts, isometrics and pipe support drawings
  • Lead and guide the team to achieve project objectives, resolve technical issues.
  • Liaise with OEMs, review vendor drawings and documentation.
  • Interface with other disciplines and stakeholders to meet project requirements.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders like process licensors, OEMs, clients, and certification agencies.
  • Support team development, estimates, and proposals, ensuring quality of work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering from reputed university or college
  • 18+ years of global multidiscipline engineering & design experience in chemical / process plants including both Greenfield and Brownfield.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of industrial engineering phases (FEL 0 to 3)
  • Experience in piping related to various process equipment both ISBL and OSBL
  • Familiar with international codes and standards like ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, and environmental and statutory regulations in Europe.
  • Vast knowledge in Piping Material Specifications, data sheets, specifications, TBEs, Inspection & Testing requirements, painting and insulation requirements, heat tracing, etc.
  • Must have a sound technical knowledge on Plant Design / Layout / Piping Design - in piping routing, layout, and support concepts within confined ISBL environment and OSBL facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of 3D model review software like Navis. Led and handled 3D model reviews.
  • Skills in aiding client with solutions review and decision making
  • Good knowledge of process equipment suppliers (OEMs), preferably in Europe.
  • Having experience in plant operations, trouble shooting, facility improvement, debottlenecking will be a plus. Experience in Metals shall be a plus
  • Experience in Decarbonization, Sustainable initiatives, Life extension is preferred
  • Knowledge of 3D Model software like E3D, Autodesk Plant 3D will be an added advantage

As our new Lead Piping Engineer in our energy unit, you will join a growing team of highly experienced professionals in Chennai. Our services encompass owner's engineering, FEL 0 to 3 phases, and detailed engineering for the process, chemical, petrochemical, metal industries, and gas infrastructure sectors. Serving global clients, your key role will be to lead multidisciplinary projects, deliver high-quality technical solutions, and establish yourself as a trusted advisor to our clients.
