Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively manage, update, and optimize existing WordPress themes/plugins and Shopify storefronts.
- Conduct regular audits of site speed and Core Web Vitals, implementing advanced caching and database optimization to reduce latency.
- Harden WordPress installations against vulnerabilities and manage Shopify private apps to ensure data integrity.
- Maintain and improve API integrations between Shopify, WordPress, and internal CRM/ERP systems.
- Perform code reviews and implement standardized Git workflows (CI/CD) to ensure deployments are bug-free.
- Act as the subject matter expert, guiding junior developers and providing technical clarity to non-technical stakeholders.
Technical Must-Haves:
- Expert-level knowledge of PHP, custom theme development (not just builders), and the WordPress hook/filter system.
- Shopify & Liquid: Deep experience with Shopify's Liquid templating engine, Storefront API, and custom app development (Node.js or similar).
- Front-End Proficiency: Strong command of JavaScript (ES6+), CSS3/SASS, and modern build tools (Webpack, Vite, or Gulp).
- Database Management: Experience optimizing MySQL queries and understanding WordPress database schema at scale.
- Version Control: Mastery of Git and experience managing multi-environment deployments (Dev, Staging, Production).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Headless CMS architectures (Hydrogen, Oxygen, or WP-Graph QL).
- Familiarity with Cloud Infrastructure (AWS/GCP) or managed hosting (WP Engine, Pantheon).
- Prior experience in a mid-to-large scale IT services or product environment.
