Role Summary
The Network Architect will be responsible for defining, validating, and governing enterprise-grade network architectures across multiple data centers and cloud-adjacent environments. This role ensures adherence to Cisco best practices, validates network readiness for
Epic performance and availability requirements, and provides executive-level assurance on network design, risks, and operational readiness. The architect will act as a critical bridge between senior leadership and engineering teams and may evolve into an offshore network leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Network Architecture & Governance
- Own and govern enterprise network architecture standards, ensuring adherence to Cisco best practices across:
- Cisco Data Center networking
- ACI fabric design and operations
- Core routing & switching
- FTD (Firewall Threat Defense) edge security
- SD-WAN architecture
- Review, validate, and approve engineering-level designs and implementation plans prior to execution.
- Ensure architectural consistency across multiple concurrent data centers.
Data Center & Cloud-Adjacent Design
- Perform end-to-end architectural assessments of:
- On-prem data centers
- Cloud-adjacent connectivity (private cloud, hybrid, interconnects)
- WAN and campus integration
- Evaluate scalability, resiliency, latency, throughput, and failover designs.
Epic Network Readiness & Performance Assurance
- Validate overall network readiness for Epic systems, including:
- Performance, latency, and throughput requirements
- High availability and fault tolerance
- Security and segmentation considerations
- Identify gaps and risks impacting Epic performance and clinical operations.
Business Assurance & Stakeholder Communication
- Produce business-assurance level documentation summarizing:
- Network readiness status
- Key risks and mitigations
- Performance and availability posture
- Translate technical network designs into clear business impacts for senior leadership.
- Act as a trusted advisor to program sponsors and executives.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as a bridge between senior management and engineering teams.
- Provide architectural guidance and mentorship to network engineers.
- Potential to evolve into the offshore Network Architecture Lead, owning standards, reviews, and governance.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise
- Deep hands-on and architectural expertise in Cisco enterprise networking, including:
- Cisco ACI (design, multi-pod / multi-site preferred)
- Core routing (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
- Cisco FTD / firewalls
- SD-WAN (Cisco Viptela / Meraki SD-WAN)
- Strong experience with multi-data-center environments.
- Solid understanding of network security, segmentation, and compliance.
- Aruba networking experience (campus / wireless) preferred.
Architecture & Assurance
- Proven experience delivering architecture assessments and readiness reviews.
- Ability to produce executive-ready documentation and presentations.
- Experience validating designs against performance-critical applications (Epic or similar healthcare systems strongly preferred).
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and governance mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exp Cisco CCNP certification or equivalent knowledge
- Experience in conducting datacentre network tests
- Prior experience leading or scaling offshore network teams
