The opportunity:

Provide comprehensive end-to-end legal support for all matters related to the operations and functions of Hitachi Energy Technology Services Private Limited, excluding direct Business Unit-specific matters. Deliver complete legal advice and support for the Services Business Unit of Hitachi Energy India Limited. Develop and execute legal strategies for managing litigation involving Hitachi Energy India, ensuring alignment with business objectives and risk mitigation. Support legal requirements across Hitachi Energy businesses in India, stepping in for team members as needed to ensure continuity and responsiveness.


How you'll make an impact:

  • Providing strategic legal advice and support in all matters that are relevant for the business of Hitachi Energy Technology Services Private Limited, stepping in and assisting in tender / contracts review matters of all BUs.
  • Support in India in the event of any spike in respective BU's and ensure that all corporate activities are supported with the highest standards of legal, professional ethics and compliant with the prevailing laws and regulations.
  • Provide legal advice and support for Business Units when existing legal team members are not available and or fill in for the existing lawyers during spike in legal work, project related work.
  • Provide legal support and drive litigation strategy for all litigation matters for and against Hitachi Energy India.
  • Provide legal advice and support to ensure 100% statutory compliance of Hitachi Energy.
  • Attend to and address all audit (internal and external) related queries relating to Legal.
  • Developing and implementing legal strategies, and through the collaboration with the organization's Business Units and other functions provide strategic legal insight, potential risk exposure, and mitigation plans of any significant legal and regulatory developments to the management.
  • Delivering business-oriented solutions and legal advice to the company's management and facilitate the achievement of business goals and objectives.
  • Developing/reviewing and streamlining processes required for legal review and approval of transactions, Management Instructions, Power Grid Regulation.
  • Providing relevant and practical advice to all Business Units as may be required, various functions, and country management, through a good understanding of business processes.
  • Participate actively in the development of cross border collaboration of the Global legal & Integrity team.
  • Create, develop, and implement company-wide policies, procedures, and standard contracts/agreements in line with the applicable country's jurisdiction.
  • Monitoring emerging legislation and regulation and advising the company of regulatory developments.
  • Living the organization's core values of integrity, in significance taking responsibility for own actions while caring for other colleagues and the business.
  • Organizing Code of Conduct/compliance/ethics/integrity trainings for all employees in country level, develop and maintain through the organization's learning network system in daily basis.
  • Sets up, matures, and ensures effective Business Unit/ Code of Conduct (CoC) governance, aligned with the global organization reporting framework.
  • Working closely with Head of Integrity, Office of Special Investigations, a function of the integrity global team on any allegations/reported issues in a case-by-case basis.
  • Managing external legal counsel on specific projects and day-to-day country specific operational activities, in regulatory enforcement or litigation matters.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background:

  • Should have bachelor's degree in law (LL.B.) from a recognized university in India or master's degree in law (LL.M.) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 12 years of post-qualification legal experience, with at least 5 years in a senior in-
    house counsel role.
  • Proven expertise in corporate and commercial law, contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, litigation management, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience advising senior leadership and managing external counsel and legal budgets.
  • Strong understanding of Indian legal and regulatory frameworks, with exposure to international legal environments preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders, and support strategic business
    initiatives.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Experience in sectors such as technology, manufacturing, infrastructure or energy is desirable.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
