Main Purpose:

  • Define and implement the enterprise GIS strategy aligned with business and digital transformation goals.
  • Establish and enforce GIS data standards, spatial reference systems, metadata, naming conventions, and version control.
  • Act as data owner/steward for geospatial datasets and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Oversee lifecycle management of vector, raster, imagery, LiDAR, and attribute datasets.
  • Define and implement data quality frameworks, validation rules, topology checks, and accuracy standards.
  • Ensure data lineage, audit trails, and documentation for critical GIS datasets.
  • Lead administration and optimization of GIS platforms and tools (desktop, server, web, and cloud-based).
  • Coordinate with IT teams on infrastructure sizing, performance, storage, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • Ensure high availability and scalability of GIS services.
  • Guide development and maintenance of GIS applications, dashboards, and web maps.
  • Enable integration of GIS with enterprise systems (ERP, asset management, SCADA, subsurface systems, analytics platforms).
  • Support interoperability using OGC standards and APIs.
  • Enable advanced spatial analysis, modeling, and visualization for operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Support use cases such as asset and infrastructure management, environmental and regulatory reporting, planning, risk assessment, and impact analysis.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and domain teams for geo-analytics and insights generation.
  • Ensure role-based access control, data confidentiality, and secure data sharing.
  • Support audits related to data security, compliance, and statutory reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO and industry best practices for geospatial information management.
  • Lead, mentor, and guide GIS specialists and analysts.
  • Act as the single point of contact for GIS-related initiatives and issues.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, consultants, and external vendors.
  • Promote GIS best practices, user adoption, and spatial data literacy.

Skills Required:

  • Strong expertise in GIS concepts, spatial data models, and geodatabases.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise GIS platforms, spatial databases, and web GIS.
  • Proficiency in spatial analysis, cartography, and map services.
  • Knowledge of GIS integration, APIs, and automation scripting.
  • Understanding of data governance, metadata, and quality management.
  • Strong stakeholder and vendor management skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and complex GIS initiatives.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to spatial accuracy and detail.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 9 years of experience in GIS and related fields.

Preferred Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Geomatics, GIS, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
  • Master's degree or professional certifications in GIS / Geospatial Technologies will be an added advantage.
