Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Engineer based in India.

The Lead Engineer will contribute to in-service engineering activities within the aerospace and defense sector, with a particular focus on landing gear systems and mechanical components. You will provide engineering repair dispositions, assess complex overhaul issues, and develop technical solutions that support product reliability and safety. Working closely with customers, maintenance organizations, and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will help ensure high-quality deliverables and timely project execution. The role requires strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, practical design expertise, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and stress analysis reports. You will also contribute to continuous improvement by identifying solutions that prevent recurring engineering issues. This is an opportunity to take on meaningful technical responsibilities in a collaborative, quality-driven environment.

Accountabilities

Responsibilities

As a Lead Engineer, you will oversee engineering deliverables and provide technical support for in-service mechanical and landing gear components. You will collaborate with customers and internal teams to resolve engineering challenges while maintaining quality, compliance, and delivery standards. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet expected quality standards and are completed on time.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with customers and relevant departments to ensure successful completion of assigned engineering tasks.
  • Provide repair dispositions for landing gear parts and other mechanical components.
  • Assess complex overhaul issues and recommend appropriate engineering solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to prevent recurring technical issues through effective repair and engineering recommendations.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, tolerance stack-up analyses, GD&T requirements, and stress analysis reports.
  • Support compliance with global trade requirements and applicable engineering procedures.
  • Adhere to quality management processes and established standards.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) organizations and teams across design, stress analysis, materials, and other engineering disciplines.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in mechanical or aerospace engineering, with hands-on experience in engineering design, repair dispositions, and technical problem-solving. You should be comfortable managing demanding workloads and communicating with diverse technical stakeholders. The following qualifications and skills are expected:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 3–6 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Master's degree in a related engineering discipline is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, particularly design, materials, manufacturing processes, and special processes.
  • Hands-on experience preparing repair dispositions for landing gear parts or mechanical components.
  • Knowledge of landing gear components and their functionality is desirable.
  • Experience assessing complex overhaul issues and proposing engineering solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Excellent engineering drawing interpretation skills.
  • Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret stress analysis reports.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Previous experience with Material Review Board (MRB) activities is an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with CATIA V5 3D modeling software.
  • Practical experience using Product Data Management (PDM) or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
  • Exposure to automation and digital technologies is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly when interacting with MRO organizations, business units, and engineering teams.
  • Ability to manage demanding workloads while maintaining accuracy and quality.

Benefits

  • Hybrid working arrangement, combining onsite and offsite work.
  • Transportation facility.
  • Group health insurance.
  • Group term life insurance.
  • Group personal accident insurance.
  • 18 days of annual vacation leave.
  • 12 days of annual contingency leave.
  • Employee scholarship program.
  • Car lease program.
  • National Pension Scheme (NPS).
  • Leave Travel Allowance (LTA).
  • Fuel and vehicle maintenance or driver wage benefits.
  • Meal vouchers.
  • Work-life balance support.
  • Opportunity to contribute to advanced aerospace engineering and landing systems.
