Job Description/Mission
As a Lead Engineer - Design Reviewer your primary mission is to meticulously ensure the excellence and efficacy of mechanical designs by conducting comprehensive reviews, leveraging technical expertise, and fostering collaborative partnerships, thereby ensuring the delivery of innovative, reliable, and optimized solutions that exceed industry standards, also you will be responsible for ensuring on-time delivery and a first-time right approach in all your work.
Key Responsibilities
- Understanding the specific needs of internal customers to the product portfolio of our Abatement System and its accessories.
- Optimize the (re)use of engineering standardization concepts and actively steer the adoption of these concepts within Product Management team.
- Optimize ways of working of mechanical engineers within Product Management team.
- To mentor and guide Mechanical Engineers towards the best design possible and handling questions/problems during engineering process.
- Responsible for the (check of the) quality of the design. Minimise Cost to quality.
- Checking execution of risk analysis. Reviewing easy maintenance of the machine (serviceability).
- Design and review engineering deliverables. Initiate and follow-up corrective actions if necessary.
- Implement efficient project execution processes, Create Design Review Templates and Coordinate The way of working for Product Management Team thus reducing Time to competence.
- Support design calculations, component sizing, selection, and validation activities.
- Review product Bill of Materials management activities, EC processes and ensure error free EC release.
- Validating the work of colleagues (Technical verification/design review).
- Provide, if necessary, technical support during discussions with / at the customer for new initiatives. Take lead of feasibility studies.
- Ensure that all information is centralized, made available to the team, and is actively used by all the team members.
- Perform root cause analysis on all design errors, establish and implement appropriate next steps to prevent recurrence. Take lead of lesson learnt sharing with team.
- Continually innovate the ideas to improve the Quality aspect of engineering.
- Create & Promote use of reusable components, product platforms, Subassemblies, Modular Designs.
- Promote ideas for continuous improvement & innovation.
- Ensure proper co-ordination with other competences involved CAE, Electrical design etc. and other Cross functioning teams.
- Co-ordination with internal & external clients for reporting status of project, resolving queries and receiving feedback.
- Identify and implement AI-driven solutions to enhance design processes and improve overall efficiency.
To succeed, you will need
Knowledge/Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical stream with proven 8-10 years of Industrial design and product development experience.
- Experience in the vacuum field is preferred, and exposure to abatement systems will be considered a strong advantage.
- Should have experience in designing and implementing pneumatic and process-control systems used in abatement systems, including their operational and safety controls.
- Knowledge of manufacturing technologies, tolerance analysis development, failure analysis and engineering changes.
- Hands on experience, desire to solve problems practically as well as in theory.
- Understanding of various compliance and Design codes: ASME, CE, EU Directives, UKCA, ATEX, RoHS, REACH.
- Experience of working on CAD software like CATIA V6, AutoCAD, ERP (SAP) & 3DX system.
