Position Description: Lead Design Engineer (Mold, Tool, Mechanical Design)

Summary:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead Design Engineer for the design and development of tools, molds, and mechanical systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design, collaborating with cross-functional departments, and ensuring that all designs meet technical, quality, and cost standards. This is a hands-on role that requires a blend of creativity, technical expertise to deliver innovative and reliable solutions for manufacturing processes.

Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, AutoCAD) is essential.

Responsibilities:

Designing, Detailing, & Drafting of mechanical systems and assemblies, single & multicavity cold & full hot runner systems for injection Molds and tools.

Conduct DFA and DFM studies to optimize Mold and tool designs.

Perform Tolerance Stack Analysis for precision and reliability in Mold and tool design.

Generate drafting and conduct basic engineering calculations for Mold and tool designs.

Possess a strong understanding of Mold materials, heat treatment processes, and manufacturing processes.

Oversee project management for timely and efficient execution of Mold and tool design projects. Plan, prioritize, and track design and development projects to ensure deadlines are met.

Work closely with production and manufacturing teams to ensure the designs are optimized for efficiency, cost, and scalability.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to review designs and resolve any technical challenges.

Stay up to date on industry trends and new technologies to incorporate into designs.

Ensure that the Designs created meet the performance specifications, quality standards, and timeline requirements.

Conduct detailed analysis and simulations to validate mold designs (e.g., flow analysis, thermal analysis).

Oversee the prototyping and testing phases to ensure design integrity.

Provide design input and recommendations to improve Design durability, maintenance, and manufacturability.

Demonstrate excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to design processes, tools, and technologies.

Provide feedback and suggestions for improving tooling and design methodologies within the organization.

Support R&D efforts for new product designs, material improvements, and advanced tooling concepts.

Ensure that all designs adhere to quality control standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

BE/B.Tech/Diploma/Post-Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum of 6 years of experience in Mold and tool design.

Proficiency in CAD software: SolidWorks, NX, AutoCAD.

Must be able to do the manufacturing models & drawings including that of Electrodes for EDM Machining.

Experience with multicavity full hot runner systems is essential & Mechanical Systems Experience is preferred

Experience with DFA, DFM studies, and Tolerance Stack Analysis.

Strong understanding of materials, heat treatment processes, surface coatings and machining & manufacturing processes.

Project management skills for efficient execution of design project with suppliers with creation of Grant Charts with Timelines for the individual activities.

Should be able to do Mold & Tool design & manufacturing Cost Estimation.

Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within cross-functional teams. Previous experience in medical components manufacturing is highly desirable but not mandatory.

Additional Requirements:

Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment and collaborate effectively across departments.

Occasional travel to manufacturing sites may be required.
