About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Lead C# Developer to take ownership of a mission-critical client-server software product for a 40+ year old, well-established software company based in the USA.
This role is designed for seasoned professionals who are comfortable working on large, long-running legacy systems, making architectural decisions, and leading technical direction with minimal supervision. This is not a training role. You will be expected to quickly understand a complex existing codebase, ensure system stability, and incrementally improve and modernize the platform wherever appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development, enhancement, and long-term maintenance of a C# client-server desktop application
- Work extensively with Microsoft SQL Server, including:
- Advanced T-SQL
- Stored procedures, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and performance tuning
- Own and manage legacy codebases, ensuring reliability, scalability, and maintainability
- Drive technical decisions related to architecture, refactoring, and roadmap execution
- Collaborate directly with UK and US-based stakeholders during CST hours
- Translate business requirements into robust, production-ready technical solutions
- Identify technical debt and propose pragmatic modernization strategies
- Enforce coding standards, documentation practices, and long-term maintainability
- Mentor and guide other developers and team as needed
- Successfully complete a mandatory online technical assessment
Mandatory Requirements :
Candidates must meet all of the following:
- 8+ years of professional, hands-on experience in C# development
- 8+ years of production experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Proven experience building and maintaining client-server desktop applications (WinForms and/or WPF)
- Demonstrated experience working with large legacy applications
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and performance optimization
- Ability to work independently and take full technical ownership
- Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN, Azure DevOps)
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills
- Willingness to work night shifts aligned with US CST
- Willingness to work in a hybrid model from Mohali
- Honesty, Positive attitude and willingness to view the priorities clearly
- Willingness to pass an online technical test
Candidates who do not meet the 8+ years proven experience requirement will not be considered for this role.
Preferred / Advantageous Experience
- DevExpress (WinForms and/or WPF) in enterprise environments
- Experience stabilizing, refactoring, or modernizing long-running software products
- Exposure to multi-tier or distributed architectures
- Experience working directly with US or international clients
- Knowledge of Delphi / Pascal (legacy exposure is a plus)
