Key Responsibilities
BGV Governance & Leadership
- Own and govern the complete Background Verification lifecycle for new joiners, rehires, internal transfers, and clientspecific BGVs.
- Act as the BGV process owner, ensuring alignment with internal policies, SOPs, and evolving client requirements.
- Provide strategic direction and mentorship to the BGV team, including Senior Associates and Associates.
Escalation, Risk & Decision Making
- Serve as the final review authority for complex Red and Amber BGV cases and exception approvals.
- Review case histories, assess risk impact, and recommend outcomes in collaboration with HRBP, Business, and Leadership.
- Ensure all exceptions are documented with appropriate justifications and approvals as per policy.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and manage relationships with approved BGV vendors, monitor SLAs, quality, and turnaround times.
- Drive vendor performance reviews, issue resolution, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Act as a key stakeholder interface with Recruitment, PMO, HRBPs, Legal, and Business teams.
Compliance, Audit & Policy Ownership
- Ensure BGV processes comply with internal policies, client contracts, and applicable legal/dataprivacy requirements (India and global).
- Lead internal and external audits by providing auditready documentation, reports, and evidence trails.
- Review, update, and roll out BGV SOPs, policies, and process changes in line with regulatory and client needs.
Reporting, Metrics & Process Improvement
- Define and track BGV KPIs, dashboards, SLA adherence, risk trends, and vendor performance metrics.
- Present periodic BGV updates, risk summaries, and improvement plans to HR and senior leadership.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and standardization across regions and clients.
Experience
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of progressive experience in Background Verification, HR Operations, Risk, or Compliance roles.
- Proven experience leading BGV teams and handling highrisk and highvolume environments.
Functional Expertise
- Strong understanding of BGV checks: Employment, Education, Criminal, Address, UAN, Credit, Sanctions, and Clientspecific checks.
- Handson experience managing Red/Amber cases, terminations, and exception handling.
- Deep familiarity with BGV policies, escalation matrices, and audit frameworks.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Strong peoplemanagement and stakeholderinfluencing skills.
- High ownership mindset with sound judgment and riskassessment capability.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
Educational Qualification
- Graduate/PostGraduate in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
