Job Description

SustainoMetric, an on-demand ESG Research firm based in The Netherlands, is looking to expand its ESG Research team with a Lead Analyst. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience in ESG consulting, research, or related fields. This role bridges execution and leadership combining hands-on ESG research expertise with team oversight and quality ownership. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in driving high-quality ESG assessments, mentoring analysts, and ensuring seamless project delivery, while contributing to process improvements and client-aligned outputs. 

Key Responsibilities 

1. ESG Research & Analysis 

 • Conduct in-depth ESG research and company assessments aligned with client methodologies/frameworks  

 • Analyze company disclosures including sustainability reports, annual reports, proxy filings, and policies  

 • Interpret qualitative and quantitative ESG data with strong attention to accuracy and consistency  

2. Quality Control & Review 

 • Perform detailed quality checks on ESG assessments completed by analysts and senior analysts  

 • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with client-specific frameworks and guidelines  

 • Identify gaps, discrepancies, and areas of improvement in research outputs  

3. Team Support & Mentorship 

 • Act as a point of contact for analysts and senior analysts for day-to-day queries  

 • Guide team members on complex ESG indicators and interpretation challenges  

 • Support onboarding and training of new team members  

4. Project Coordination 

 • Assist in managing project workflows, timelines, and deliverables  

 • Ensure smooth coordination within the team to meet client deadlines  

 • Escalate risks or bottlenecks proactively  

5. Client Engagement Support 

 • Support ESG projects by collaborating with senior stakeholders and research leads  

 • Assist in developing ESG insights, recommendations, and analytical outputs for client deliverables  

6. Process Improvement & Innovation 

 • Suggest and implement improvements in research methodologies, data collection, and workflows  

 • Contribute to building internal knowledge repositories and best practices  

 • Support automation or efficiency initiatives where applicable 

 • outputs for client deliverables  

 • Provide research-backed inputs for ESG strategies and reports 

Skills Required 

 • Strong understanding of ESG frameworks, standards, and reporting guidelines (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD). 

 • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills  

 • Proven experience in managing client relationships and leading projects. 

 • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. 

 • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with ESG data analytics tools is a plus. 

Eligibility: 

 • Master's degree in finance/economics, MBA or equivalent. Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business, Finance is a plus. 

 • 4+ years of experience in sustainability research, consulting or a related area.
