Oliver Wyman's Data and Analytics team is looking to hire seasoned professional in Private Capital / Equity as a Lead for our Hyderabad office.

Role Summary:

The Lead Analyst - Private Capital is responsible for leading analytics-driven engagements for private equity and private capital clients across the deal lifecycle. The role involves owning end-to-end delivery of due diligence, valuation, and value-creation workstreams, while acting as a trusted advisor to principals and partners. The ideal candidate will bring prior private capital or private equity experience, strong financial and business acumen, and advanced analytical skills to support investment decisions. In addition, the role requires managing client relationships, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring high-quality, scalable analytical outputs. This position is suited for candidates with a strong foundation in finance, analytics, and consulting, combined with an entrepreneurial mindset, Private capital experience and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, deal-oriented environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own project scope, timelines, and resource planning across multiple engagements, ensuring high-quality deliverables that exceed client expectations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client teams, building trusted advisor relationships with principals, partners, and senior stakeholders.
  • Lead commercial, financial, and operational due diligence and valuation engagements for private equity clients, supporting buy-side, sell-side, IPO, and post-transaction value realization efforts.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify investment risks, growth opportunities, and value creation levers to maximize client impact.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior analysts and consultants, fostering a high-performance and collaborative team environment.
  • Deploy advanced analytics, financial models, statistical techniques, and structured research methods to solve complex business and investment problems.
  • Conduct in-depth market, financial, and operational analyses to support investment theses and portfolio decisions.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and insight-driven reports and presentations for internal leadership and client stakeholders.
  • Support business development initiatives by contributing to proposals, pitch materials, and market intelligence.
  • Facilitate client workshops, interviews, and executive presentations to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
  • Contribute to talent development initiatives, including recruitment, onboarding, and training.
  • Stay current on market trends, industry dynamics, and private equity best practices to continuously enhance service offerings.
  • Ensure adherence to firm methodologies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements across all engagements.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • CA / CFA qualification or candidates with strong analyst experience are strongly preferred.
  • MBA, MS, or certifications in analytics, finance, or strategy are a plus.

Experience & Skills:

  • 6+ years of overall experience in analytics, consulting, or private capitalrelated roles, with 2+ years of exposure to market research, due diligence, or transaction-related work.
  • Strong proficiency in financial statement analysis, valuation techniques, market research, and due diligence methodologies.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, with comfort building structured models and presentations.
  • Python and SQL experience is a strong plus but not mandatory
  • Experience working with specialized financial and market data sources such as Capital IQ, Bloomberg, Factiva, or similar platforms.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects across the deal lifecycle (deal sourcing, due diligence, portfolio monitoring, exit planning).
  • Excellent client-facing skills with demonstrated ability to build credibility and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership experience managing teams, reviewing analytical work, and driving execution excellence.
  • Experience conducting customer and market research using interviews, surveys, focus groups, and secondary sources.
  • Exposure to multi-sector business research, preferably in a global consulting or professional services environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex insights clearly and concisely.
  • Comfort working with large, complex datasets and applying data-driven decision-making approaches.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies (e.g., GenAI tools) is a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, collaborative approach to problem-solving and practice growth.
  • Willingness to travel as required to meet client and project needs.
