The role of the Lead Accountant is focused on accounting functions within the ETS Corporate Accounting Department. Primary responsibilities include General Ledger, Month-End close processes,
and reporting and analysis that support creation of ETS financial statements and management reports. This role requires an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure
that ETS practices and procedures are in compliance. The Lead Accountant collaborates with others within Finance, IT, and Business Units in developing procedures and financial software business
requirements and financial reporting solutions to meet the evolving complex accounting and tax compliance needs. The Lead Accountant also supports accounting for government contracts. This role
requires the ability to be detailed oriented, guide and review the work of others, and delegate tasks when appropriate.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (indicate 5-10 key responsibilities/tasks that effectively describe the position; List from most important to least important):
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing process, including:
- Process accruals, journals, and various interfaces
- Provide assistance to PeopleSoft General Ledger users
- Ensure adequate internal control is maintained
- Monitor ETS General Ledger account reconciliations and balance sheet fluctuations, and perform root cause analysis to maintain effectiveness
- Support management of PeopleSoft General Ledger module and collaborate with other PeopleSoft module owners to ensure integrity of endto-end processing, and conduct user acceptance testing
- Provide guidance and expertise to internal customers and staff regarding accounting, reporting and general ledger matters and the allowability of particular costs for government reporting
- Support accounting for and analysis of project and labor related costs, including payroll and benefits
- Support review of direct and indirect costs for compliance with allowable cost provisions of the Uniform Guidance and Federal Acquisition Regulations and preparation of required regulatory reports, including single audit and indirect cost rate proposals
- Collaborate with key business stakeholders and IT to define and document process flows and data quality needs, as well as challenges and opportunities, in order to identify effective changes and drive end-to-end process improvement through automation
- Participate in the definition, development and implementation of future enhancement and/or integration projects for the financial system applications and reporting tools
- Document and maintain accounting procedures and process narratives related to the General Accounting Department
- Assist management with ad hoc reporting and analysis
- Interface with internal and external auditors and coordinate responses to audit requests
- Participate in departmental projects and other duties as assigned and necessary
- Adhere to ethical standards and comply with the laws and regulations applicable to the job function
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Minimum 8 years progressive accounting experience
- Combination of Public and Private accounting experience preferred

- Supervisory experience required
- PeopleSoft and MSBI experience preferred
