Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Laravel
  • Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code following PHP and Laravel standards

API Development

  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs for seamless integration with internal and external systems

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and frontend developers to deliver features and improvements
  • Participate in cross-functional team discussions and planning

Performance & Security

  • Ensure high standards of application performance, security, and scalability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend issues and bugs in production

Code Quality & Best Practices

  • Participate in code reviews and promote coding standards and best practices
  • Maintain source control using Git and follow agile development workflows

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Laravel and PHP backend development
  • Strong understanding of MySQL, relational databases, and data modeling
  • Proven experience in designing and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Familiarity with Git version control and agile methodologies
  • Basic understanding of cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in financial or loan management systems, USSD applications, or mobile carrier integrations is a strong advantage
