About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Land Use Expert approved under NABET-QCI Accreditation Scheme for EIA Consultants to support Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental Clearance (EC) studies. The role involves land use analysis, spatial planning, GIS-based assessment, and contribution to EIA/EMP reports in compliance with MoEF&CC guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct land use and land cover (LULC) analysis for EIA studies using remote sensing and GIS tools.
- Assess existing and proposed land use patterns within core and buffer zones of projects.
- Evaluate impacts of projects on land resources, including agriculture, forests, wetlands, settlements, and eco-sensitive areas.
- Prepare baseline land environment sections for EIA/EMP reports as per MoEF&CC ToR and EIA Notification, 2006 (and amendments).
- Interpret satellite imagery and topographic maps for land use change analysis.
- Coordinate with environmental planners, and other domain experts for integrated assessments.
- Ensure compliance with NABET accreditation requirements and quality standards.
Qualifications
Essential
Postgraduate degree in Geo Informatics or Remote Sensing or Geographic Information System / Geography / Environment Management / Environmental Planning / Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
- NABET-QCI approved Land Use Expert under the EIA Accreditation Scheme (Category A preferred).
Desirable
- Additional certification in GIS/Remote Sensing.
- Familiarity with national and state-level land use policies.
Experience
- Minimum 510 years of relevant experience in land use planning and EIA studies (as per NABET norms).
- Proven experience in preparing EIA/EMP reports for infrastructure, industrial, mining, energy, or urban development projects.
- Experience working with MoEF&CC, SEIAA, or accredited EIA consultancies preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in GIS and Remote Sensing software (ArcGIS, QGIS, ERDAS, ENVI, AutoCAD etc.).
- Strong knowledge of land use classification systems, spatial analysis, and map interpretation.
- Understanding of Indian environmental regulations, land-related acts, and planning frameworks.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
- Good communication skills for stakeholder and regulatory interactions.
