We are looking for a motivated Junior Production Engineer to support day-to-day production activities in a sheet metal fabrication environment. The role involves production planning, nesting for laser cutting, team coordination, quality control, and ERP updates to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Production & Planning
- Assist in daily production planning and scheduling based on orders and priorities
- Prepare job cards, route sheets, and monitor production progress
- Ensure on-time execution of fabrication and assembly activities
- Track production output and report daily performance
- Sheet Metal & Nesting
- Prepare nesting for laser cutting to optimize material utilization
- Understand sheet metal processes: laser cutting, bending, welding, finishing
- Coordinate with machine operators for execution of production plans
- Design & Documentation
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Work with AutoCAD 2D for basic production drawings and modifications
- Prepare and maintain BOM (Bill of Materials)
- Maintain production records and documentation
- Team Management
- Supervise shop-floor operators and helpers
- Allocate work and monitor productivity
- Ensure discipline, safety, and adherence to SOPs
- Quality Control
- Support in in-process and final inspection
- Ensure products meet drawing and quality standards
- Coordinate with the QC team for corrective actions
- ERP & Reporting
- Update ERP with production data, material consumption, and job status
- Generate basic production and inventory reports
- Maintain accurate data entry and documentation
- Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with vendors for outsourced processes (laser cutting, powder coating, etc.)
- Follow up on material delivery and job work status
- Ensure timely receipt and quality compliance
