Job Title: Junior Manager – Offset Operations
Department: Offset Printing Operations
Reporting To: Offset Operations Manager/COO
Job Purpose:
The Junior Manager – Offset Operations is responsible for overseeing daily shop floor operations, ensuring smooth production flow, efficient manpower utilization, and adherence to quality and delivery timelines. The role involves coordination with internal teams and external vendors, managing ERP reporting, and supporting new product development activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Reporting and Monitoring:
- Ensure daily production reporting in ERP system accurately and timely.
- Track and monitor output of each machine shift-wise, ensuring alignment with planned production and highlight deviations.
- Prepare wastage reports weekly and monthly, analyze reasons for wastage, and recommend improvements.
- Share daily and weekly production plans and ensure alignment with production targets and client commitments.
2. Job & Development File (JDF) Management
- Create and maintain JDFs for all production jobs.
- Ensure all specifications, BOM, and process details are correctly captured.
- Ensure proper filing (digital and physical) of all paperwork for easy traceability during audits or client visits.
- Coordinate with design and production teams for job readiness.
- Work with QA/Design/Sales teams to ensure that every job follows defined SOPs and has verified documentation.
3. New Developments and Customer Engagement:
- Coordinate internally for new product trials and developments.
- Participate in customer visits and audits to represent the offset operations team and clarify technical/operational queries.
- Ensure development jobs are well documented and feedback is recorded for continuous improvement.
- Ensure timely execution of development jobs.
4. Raw Material Management and Forecasting:
- Monitor RM stock availability as per Sales Orders (SO).
- Maintain minimum stock levels to prevent production disruptions.
- Coordinate with purchase/store team to ensure timely availability.
- Follow-up on material availability and raise alerts in advance for shortfalls.
5. Shopfloor Coordination & Operational Support:
· Ensure availability of all inputs for job execution (CTP plates, raw materials, manpower, approvals).
· Monitor and control day-to-day shop floor activities to ensure smooth production flow.
· Ensure adherence to production plans, quality standards, and safety norms.
· Drive process improvements for efficiency and cost optimization.
· Act as a bridge between the production floor and other departments like QA, stores, and maintenance.
· Allocate manpower based on production requirements.
· Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance of shop floor staff.
· Coordinate with HR for manpower planning and discipline management.
· Ensure proper training and skill development of operators.
6. Process Adherence and Quality Focus:
- Ensure strict adherence to SOPs and quality parameters at every stage of printing, Punching, Pasting, Sorting.
- Participate in process audits, quality reviews, and internal inspections.
- Monitor rework, wastage, and rejection data and work closely with QA to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Track and report wastage at each production stage.
- Analyze root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Drive initiatives to reduce process losses.
7. Procurement & Inventory Follow-ups
- Raise requirements and follow up for:
- Foil
- Lamination Film
- Dies
- Blankets, creasing matrix
- Ensure timely availability of all production consumables.
8. Vendor Coordination (Job Work)
- Coordinate with external vendors for outsourced job work.
- Follow up on delivery timelines and quality compliance.
- Maintain vendor performance records.
9. Support for 5S, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement:
- Promote 5S practices and workplace discipline on the shopfloor.
- Suggest and implement ideas for improving process efficiency, reducing waste, or enhancing safety.
- Participate in departmental reviews and prepare reports/presentations on improvement initiatives.
