Position Title: Junior Frontend Developer

Purpose of the role

The Junior Frontend Developer is responsible for building and maintaining the user-facing elements of internal tools and client-facing web applications. Working under the direction of the Lead Developer, this role translates design specifications and business requirements into responsive, accessible, and performant interfaces. The position suits a developer with a strong visual sense, solid foundational skills in modern frontend technologies, and a genuine interest in delivering polished user experiences across devices and platforms.

Responsibilities and duties

• Build responsive, accessible, and performant user interfaces from design mockups,

wireframes, and functional specifications.

• Write clean, modular, and maintainable code using modern frontend frameworks and

libraries (e.g. React, Next.js, Vue.js, Angular, Svelte).

• Implement pixel-accurate layouts using HTML5, CSS3, and preprocessors or utility

frameworks (e.g. SASS, Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap).

• Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility across desktop, tablet, and mobile

viewports.

• Implement client-side state management, routing, and data fetching patterns in line with the

project's architectural approach.

• Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs (REST, GraphQL) and handle

asynchronous data flows, error states, and loading patterns.

• Contribute to component library development, design system adoption, and reusable UI

pattern creation.

• Optimise page load times, rendering performance, and asset delivery through techniques

such as lazy loading, code splitting, and image optimisation.

• Follow web accessibility standards (WCAG) and implement semantic HTML, ARIA attributes,

and keyboard navigation support.

• Support on-page SEO requirements including meta tags, structured data, and performance

benchmarks.

• Write unit tests and component tests using frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library,

Cypress, or Playwright.

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to maintaining coding standards, linting rules, and

style guides.

• Identify and resolve UI bugs, layout issues, and cross-browser inconsistencies.

• Collaborate with backend developers, designers, and stakeholders to translate requirements

into functional interfaces.

• Work closely with the Lead Developer to estimate effort, plan sprints, and deliver features

within agreed timelines.

• Maintain documentation for components, design patterns, and frontend development

processes.

• Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives as part of the development

workflow.

Key deliverables

• User interfaces built to specification, responsive across devices, and accessible to WCAG

standards.

• Frontend components developed, tested, and integrated with backend services.

• Page performance optimised against agreed benchmarks.

• UI bugs and cross-browser issues identified and resolved within agreed timeframes.

• Component documentation and frontend process documentation maintained.

Compliance and confidentiality

• Adhere to all organisational policies, procedures, and codes of conduct as applicable to the

role.

• Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality in relation to client matters, internal

operations, and sensitive business information.

• Handle all personal and professional data in accordance with applicable privacy and data

protection requirements.

• Follow secure development practices and immediately report any actual or suspected

security incidents, data breaches, or compliance concerns to the Lead Developer or India

Director.

Essential skills

• Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+).

• Familiarity with one or more modern frontend frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue.js,

Angular, or Svelte.

• An eye for design detail and a genuine interest in delivering clean, intuitive user interfaces.

• Working knowledge of responsive design principles and mobile-first development.

• Exposure to version control systems (e.g. Git) and collaborative development workflows.

• Willingness to learn new technologies, frameworks, and tools as required by the team.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
