Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly driven and organized Automation Test Lead to oversee a team of automation developers and QA engineers working in an onshore-offshore engagement model. This role requires strong technical expertise in test automation, leadership skills to drive delivery, and the ability to coordinate effectively between offshore teams and onshore stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, assigning, tracking, and ensuring timely completion of automation testing deliverables while maintaining high quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of Automation Developers, QA Engineers, and Testers in offshore locations.
- Coordinate with onshore managers, product owners, business analysts, and development teams to understand priorities and align deliverables.
- Define and drive test automation strategy, frameworks, and best practices.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure accountability across the offshore team.
- Conduct daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and status reporting.
- Review automation scripts, test cases, and execution results for quality and coverage.
- Track defects, prioritize issues, and ensure timely resolution with development teams.
- Monitor team productivity, utilization, and delivery timelines.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and performance feedback to team members.
- Ensure effective communication and seamless handoff between onshore and offshore teams.
- Prepare and present weekly status reports, metrics dashboards, and risk assessments.
- Drive continuous improvement in automation coverage, execution speed, and defect detection.
- Support release cycles, regression testing, and production validation.
Required Skills:
- Strong experience with Automation Testing tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, UFT, or similar.
- Experience in API testing using tools like Postman, REST Assured, or similar.
- Hands-on scripting/programming in Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab.
- Experience with defect tracking and project management tools such as Jira.
- Knowledge of Agile / Scrum methodologies.
- Strong understanding of web, API, and database testing.
- Experience managing distributed teams across multiple time zones.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
- Experience with cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience in telecom / OSS / BSS domain.
- Exposure to containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
- ISTQB or relevant QA certifications.
Responsibilities in Onshore-Offshore Model:
- Act as the single point of contact for offshore QA automation activities.
- Bridge communication gaps between onshore business/technical teams and offshore execution teams.
- Ensure offshore team members are productive, aligned, and meeting deadlines.
- Escalate risks/issues proactively and provide mitigation plans.
- Optimize resource allocation across multiple projects and priorities.
