Summary
We are looking for a Junior Power BI Developer who is enthusiastic about data and eager to build their career in Business Intelligence. In this role, you will assist in developing reports and dashboards under the guidance of senior team members. You will work with business users to understand reporting needs and learn to translate data into meaningful visuals. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing reports and dashboards using Power BI Desktop under senior guidance.
- Connect Power BI to data sources such as SQL Server, Excel, or CSV files.
- Write basic DAX measures and calculated columns with support from senior developers.
- Transform and shape data using Power Query (M language) within Power BI Desktop.
- Support publishing and managing reports to Power BI Service and basic workspace management.
- Help gather reporting requirements from business users and translate them into visuals.
- Assist in data quality checks and flag issues in datasets used for reporting.
- Learn and apply BI best practices and reporting standards under senior mentorship.
Knowledge (Technical/Functional)
- Basic understanding of Power BI Desktop — report building, data sources, and visualisations.
- Foundational knowledge of DAX — basic measures and calculated columns.
- Awareness of data visualisation concepts — choosing appropriate charts, KPIs, and layouts.
- Basic familiarity with Power BI Service and workspace management.
Skills
- 6 months-3 years of experience working with Power BI Desktop to build reports and dashboards.
- Basic to intermediate SQL skills — ability to write SELECT queries, use joins, filters, and aggregations.
- Ability to transform and shape data using Power Query (M language) within Power BI Desktop.
- Proficient in Excel for data preparation and analysis.
- Good communication skills — ability to gather requirements and present findings to business users.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced analytics consulting environment.
Good To Have
- Any exposure to Azure Data services (Databricks, Azure SQL, ADF) is a plus.
- Awareness of Power BI Embedded or API integration concepts.
- Basic familiarity with Python or PySpark for data wrangling.
- Interest in retail or customer loyalty analytics.
- Any experience with custom visuals or advanced Power BI features is a bonus.
Qualifications
- B.Tech / B.Sc in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related field
- BI or analytics certification is an added advantage
