Job Description

We are seeking a Jr. Power System Engineer to join our Power Systems Energy & Utility Consulting team. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with 0-2 years of relevant experience to contribute to power system studies and models for energy clients worldwide. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and proficiency in a few key planning software tools. You will apply advanced engineering techniques to solve complex problems and ensure all projects adhere to strict quality and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Power System Analysis: Perform technical modeling and simulation of electrical power systems. You will conduct power flow studies, transient stability, short circuit, and protection coordination studies to enhance network performance.
  • Technical Support & Automation: Provide technical direction and training to other team members. You will also use tools like Python to automate repetitive tasks, continuously improving modeling and data analysis processes.
  • Project Management: Oversee projects concurrently, ensuring that critical path items are identified and resolved to meet client deadlines. You will assist in preparing project documentation and training materials.
  • Client Engagement: Act as a point of contact for clients, effectively communicating and presenting complex technical concepts. You will work to ensure deliverables are aligned with client needs and expectations.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure all projects are compliant with relevant IEEE/NERC, IEC, and other international standards. You'll stay updated on industry developments, particularly in North American power systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of professional experience in a relevant field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in at least a few planning software tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, ETAP, or MiPower. Experience with various power system studies like load forecasting, generator interconnection, and transient stability is also required.
  • Soft Skills: You must have excellent communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills. A flexible approach to work, with the ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple projects simultaneously, is crucial.
  • Additional Knowledge: Familiarity with IEEE/NERC & IEC standards is essential. Knowledge of renewable energy integration and grid modernization is desirable.
