Jewellery Merchandiser plans, selects, and manages inventory (gold, diamonds, gems) to maximize retail sales and brand profitability. They analyze market trends, curate product collections, and create appealing visual displays, while balancing inventory levels to avoid overstocking. Key duties include product development, vendor negotiation, and sales reporting.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Selection & Curation: Analyze sales data, market trends, and customer preferences to select the ideal product mix for stores.Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, ensure proper stock replenishment, and reduce slow-moving items to maintain optimal inventory.Visual Merchandising: Design, set up, and update in-store displays, showcases, and window layouts to maximize consumer attractiveness, focusing on lighting and layout.Strategic Planning & Analysis: Develop sales plans, set pricing, and prepare sales reports to maximize profitability.Collaborative Work: Partner with designers, buyers, production teams, and sales staff to align product launches with marketing campaigns.Quality Control: Ensure all products meet quality standards and brand aesthetic. Required Skills and QualificationsEducation/Experience: Often requires a degree in fashion, retail management, or gemology, with previous experience in luxury retail or jewelry merchandising.Technical Knowledge: Understanding of precious metals (gold, platinum) and gemstones, including quality, karats, and setting techniques.Analytical Skills: Ability to use data to forecast trends and make purchasing decisions.Creativity: An eye for design, color, and visual merchandising.Communication & Negotiation: Strong communication skills for negotiating with vendors and working with teams. Typical Working ConditionsThis is generally a retail floor or office-based role, often requiring 8-hour days, 6 days a week.Requires high attention to detail and adherence to security guidelines for high-value items.
