Job Summary

We are seeking a Java Developer with strong hands-on Kafka and microservices experience to design and build event-driven, scalable backend services for retail and supply chain platforms. A key aspect of this role is the ability to develop and troubleshoot complex distributed systems.

Candidates with real hands-on Kafka and microservices, along with OMS or adjacent supply chain/retail domain experience, are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse business requirements and provide technical design and effort estimations
• Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services using Java and Spring Boot
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices for retail and supply chain workflows
• Implement and support features across order, inventory, fulfilment, and logistics domains
• Integrate with upstream and downstream systems such as e-commerce platforms, WMS, ERP, payment, and logistics providers
• Translate functional and business requirements into clean, maintainable technical designs
• Ensure code quality, performance, security, and reliability best practices
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA, and DevOps teams
• Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices and architecture

Required Technical Skills

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java, J2EE
• Experience with Apache Kafka:- producer/consumer configuration, topic design, partition strategy, consumer groups, offset management.
• Microservices patterns:- saga, outbox, CQRS, circuit breaker, service mesh, API gateway, event sourcing
• Java 11+ and Spring Boot:- dependency injection, Spring Cloud, Spring Kafka, configuration management, Spring Security, and Hibernate/JPA
• Proven experience building RESTful APIs and microservices
• Distributed systems troubleshooting:- diagnosing consumer lag, rebalancing storms, message ordering issues, dead-letter queues.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP

Domain Experience – Ideal but Not Mandatory

• Hands-on experience with Order Management Systems (OMS)
• Understanding of order lifecycle, sourcing, fulfilment, cancellations, returns, and inventory management
• Experience in Supply Chain, Warehouse Management (WMS), Retail, or E-commerce platforms
• Exposure to enterprise-scale, high-volume transactional systems
