Java Software Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a Software Development Manager to join our engineering team to lead and grow a team of software engineers responsible for building and maintaining the highly distributed microservices our customers rely upon, that drives our Network as a Service platform. This is a unique opportunity that will give the selected candidate the ability to learn about the operation of a mobile network while leading a team developing software systems that form the backbone of our services.

About Telna

Telna provides Mobile Networks, CSPs and OEMs with a managed global network infrastructure for cellular connectivity. Telna has the largest LTE and LTE-M footprint in the world. Its multi-network platform enables simplified billing and localization, utilizing 6+ telco pops globally. Telna's Cronus connectivity platform allows instant access to its virtualized cellular infrastructure via API or front-end portal.

About You

The successful candidate will be working closely with our Product, DevOps, network and server infrastructure teams to lead the delivery of APIs, subsystems and web applications that are used by our SIM, Router, global mobile connectivity and IOT products. The ideal candidate is a technical leader with strong people management skills, a track record of building high-performing engineering teams, and experience delivering complex distributed systems at scale.

Experience/Skills Required:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Software development experience with at least 3+ years in an engineering management role
• Strong technical background in Java, distributed systems, and microservices architecture
• Experience managing teams of 5+ engineers through full software development lifecycle with proven ability to hire, develop, and retain talent
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Track record of delivering complex software projects on time and within scope
• Ability to leverage AI tools and technologies to improve developer productivity, code quality, and software delivery

Responsible for managing a team of engineers a team of engineers accountable for the following

• Planning, execution, and delivery of software projects aligned with business objectives
• Partnering with Product, Architecture, and Infrastructure teams to define technical roadmaps and priorities
• Establishing and maintaining engineering standards, code quality practices, and development processes
• Conducting regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development conversations with team members
• Hiring, onboarding, and retention of engineering talent
• Removing blockers, managing dependencies, and ensuring the team delivers on commitments
