Applix is hiring Java Backend Engineers to support a leading client in building scalable, cloud-native enterprise applications. We are looking for software engineers who enjoy solving complex technical problems, building high-quality backend services, and working in modern cloud environments.

Role Description
This is a full-time, client-onsite role.
As a Java Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining scalable backend applications using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-native technologies.
You will collaborate with architects, product owners, DevOps engineers, QA teams, support teams, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
Senior-level engineers will additionally contribute to technical design, architecture discussions, mentoring, code reviews, and solution ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise-grade Java backend applications.
- Build and integrate RESTful APIs, microservices, and service-oriented application components.
- Participate in requirements analysis, technical design, and architecture discussions.
- Develop cloud-native solutions using modern cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, automated testing, and test-driven development practices where applicable.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, engineering best practices, security, scalability, and maintainability.
- Work with DevOps and support teams to monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, build, release, and deployment processes.
- Support application performance monitoring, debugging, and reliability improvements.
- Collaborate effectively within distributed Agile/Scrum teams.
- Manage timelines, highlight risks, and provide regular status updates.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team skill development where applicable.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience building REST APIs, microservices, and backend services.
- Good understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software engineering principles.
- Experience with service-oriented architecture and cloud-native application development.
- Hands-on experience with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.
- Experience with Git, GitHub, branching strategies, pull requests, and version control practices.
- Familiarity with API development and testing tools such as Swagger and Postman.
- Strong knowledge of the software development life cycle and Agile methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with unit testing, integration testing, automated testing, and code quality practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, distributed engineering teams.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services such as Lambda, ECS, S3, SNS, Kinesis, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch.
- Experience with Azure cloud platforms is also acceptable.
- Experience with Docker and containerized application deployments.
- Exposure to Kubernetes is a plus.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar.
- Knowledge of JPA, Hibernate, JDBC, and REST/JSON services.
- Experience with databases and data platforms such as DynamoDB, Snowflake, or other NoSQL/data warehouse technologies.
- Knowledge of application performance monitoring, logging, and production troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with TDD/BDD practices is preferred.
- Experience using modern AI-assisted development tools is a plus.
- Exposure to serverless architectures and cloud-native development is a plus.
Experience

Junior Java Backend Engineer
- 2–5 years of professional Java development experience.
Senior Java Backend Engineer
- 6–10 years of professional Java / Spring Boot backend development experience.
- Senior candidates should have experience contributing to design discussions, mentoring team members, reviewing code, and owning technical solutions.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
