IT System Owner – gLIMS (LabVantage LIMS)

Location: Hyderabad, India – (Internal Vacancy for - Spain and Switzerland)

We are seeking an IT System Owner for gLIMS (LabVantage LIMS), a key role within our Laboratory Management IT landscape. This position is responsible for the full lifecycle management of the gLIMS Laboratory Information Management System, a business‑critical GxP system that supports digital laboratory workflows and operational efficiency across Lonza's global quality control laboratories.

Key Responsibilities

System Ownership & Technical Availability

  • Act as the System Owner for gLIMS, responsible for technical availability and lifecycle management.
  • Ensure delivery of system capacity and capability to meet end‑user needs.
  • Monitor system performance and implement maintenance measures.
  • Conduct configuration management and ensure procedures for system maintenance are defined and followed.
  • Create, review, and approve key documentation as defined by plans and procedures.
  • Plan, manage, and support periodic reviews (e.g., user access reviews).
  • Establish and implement disaster recovery plans, ensuring regular review and testing.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact during audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
  • Ensure changes are managed in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date documentation.

Business Partnering & Collaboration

  • Partner with Process Owners, Data Owners, and external suppliers to ensure system support, licensing, and scalability.
  • Coordinate technical activities with Process and Data Owners to align with business needs.
  • Work closely with vendors and IT/OT teams to define support models and service level requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to standard service management processes.

Technology Strategy & Roadmap

  • Define and maintain the strategic roadmap for gLIMS, including lifecycle planning and version upgrades.
  • Ensure platform scalability, compliance, and alignment with Lonza's digital strategy.

Project & Program Oversight

  • Provide leadership and oversight for projects involving gLIMS upgrades and integrations.
  • Manage vendor relationships associated with the platform.

Access & Security Management

  • Responsible for the approved authorization concept.
  • Review and approve privileged access permissions in line with Lonza policies.
  • Ensure cybersecurity concerns are addressed and mitigated.
  • Plan, manage, and support periodic user access reviews.

Availability & Incident Management

  • Act as escalation point and coordinator for major outages or disruptions.
  • Liaise with relevant parties to resolve incidents and ensure continuity.

Performance & Supplier Management

  • Ensure external suppliers deliver on service expectations and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure technical capacity scales appropriately for product enhancements and changes.

Leadership

  • Build strong relationships with IT and business stakeholders across global sites.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to internal and external experts working on Laboratory Management Systems.

Key Requirements

Domain Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of IT experience with laboratory applications (LIMS, LES, ELN).
  • Experience with LabVantage LIMS configuration and interface development.
  • Experience with MES and/or SAP is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of GxP, data integrity, and computer system validation requirements.
  • Knowledge of laboratory operations.
  • ITIL knowledge.
