General description of role:

This role will provide the candidate an opportunity to deliver enterprise-scale data workloads following a data lakehouse architecture on a modern cloud-based data stack for our new Commercial Risk Solutions Ecosystem. As a Cloud Data Architect, you will be instrumental in crafting, building, optimizing and consolidating our data infrastructure and pipelines. Your focus will be on ensuring efficient data flow and accessibility, supporting our cloud data warehouse initiatives, integrating global and regional environments and driving digital transformation through innovative data solutions..

Job responsibilities:

  • The Cloud Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and evolving enterprisegrade, AIready data platforms.
  • Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to the data engineering team in implementing architectural designs.
  • Cross-functional Team:Partner with multi-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient data solutions. Work closely with partners to find opportunities for data integration, migration, and optimization
  • Governance: Implement data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Roadmap Creation: Create a roadmap aligned with business and tech strategy to ensure coherent progress and integration.
  • Build and Develop: Conceptualize, invent, implement, develop and review a comprehensive warehouse architecture with focus on translation of business acceptance criteria into technical requirements.
  • Data Workload Design:Design scalable and efficient data workloads architectures that integrate our transactional systems with a new lakehouse data model.
  • Migration: Own the consolidation of data solutions across AWS Databricks, Azure Databricks and PBI
  • Documentation:Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data processes, ensuring knowledge transfer, observability and supportability.
  • Performance Monitoring:Monitor and optimize data performance to meet defined service-level agreements.
  • Troubleshooting:Identify and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner, collaborating with relevant teams.

Skills/competencies required:

  • College degree in STEM-related discipline, applicable certification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience designing solutions onAzureandAWS. Handson experience with data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of APIbased integrations and eventdriven architectures.
  • Architecture & Delivery
  • Experience definingenterprise architecture standardsand reference designs.
  • Strong knowledge ofcloud migration patterns, modernization, and replatforming.
  • Familiarity withAgile delivery modelsand crossfunctional collaboration.
  • Advanced Technical Skills:
  • Experience in design and development of an EnterpriseCI/CD pipelines, workflow orchestration, and operational monitoring for production ready data platforms.
  • Experienced in using theDAB (Databricks Asset Bundles)framework to set up and deploy Databricks projects, such as notebooks, jobs, pipelines, ML models, etc, in a consistent, automated, and version-controlled way using YAML configuration files.
  • Highly skilled inDatabricks, SQL, Python, PySpark, data visualization tools, and in developing and maintainingRESTful APIs
  • Experienced in designing and managing complete ETL/ELT pipelines withAzure Data Factory, including integration of data from various source systems. Database Knowledge: Familiarity with relational databases (Oracle, MSSQLServer, MySQL, etc).
  • Hands on experience with Agile technical practices, source versioning and Agile project management tools (Azure Repos, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, other)
  • Nice to Have:
  • Develop and manage data integration workflows between, platforms using tools likeWorkatothat are efficient, scalable, and performant.
  • Interest in orexposure to AI/LLM servicesandrelated API, with willingness to work on AI-related Integrations and POCs
  • Professional development experience with .NET core, C#andWeb API.
  • Agile planning skills - Kanban and Scrum release/sprint planning.
  • Problem-Solving: Proven ability to solve complex data engineering challenges and optimize system performance.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders
  • Deep understanding of business context of the data, detail oriented, excellent problem solving skills
