M&A Research Analyst Intern, Technology Investment Banking

About this Job:

We are looking for an Investment Banking Intern to support our Technology Investment Banking team across deal origination, sector research, and transaction execution. The role offers hands-on exposure to live mandates while also involving active participation in lead generation, market mapping, and outreach to potential counterparties and investors.

The firm believes in providing appropriate opportunities for building meaningful experience within the cross-border Investment Banking industry, getting exposure to the ecosystem and key external participants in the Investment Banking ecosystem, and building valuable industry connections and professional networks over the longer term.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct market research, company profiling, and competitive benchmarking to identify emerging investment themes and potential targets.

2. Researching Technology companies across different domains including IT Services, AI, Cloud, IoT, etc. based on various investment parameters such as Revenue, No of employees, industry and other key parameters.

3. Working closely with senior team members on execution of live M&A mandates, including developing an in-depth understanding of target companies (business model, key differentiators, industry positioning, stakeholder alignment, etc.), preparation of transaction collaterals, building financial models, and application of valuation methodologies such as DCF, trading comparables, and transaction comparables.

4. Developing deep understanding of global technology M&A landscape through sector-focused transaction analysis, including evaluation of valuation benchmarks, deal structures, and assessment of strategic rationale and synergies.

5. Building and maintaining key information repository and contact databases with high accuracy.

6. Assisting senior Transaction team with support required on a daily basis with respect to building information lists above in a timely and accurate manner (for eg: you may quickly gather research and information on Top 30-50 AI companies on one day and next day work on different Technology industry segment based on business priorities, etc.).

7. Contribute to business development initiatives through lead generation, outreach to prospective clients and investors, and maintenance of deal trackers and CRM databases.

8. Prepare sector briefs, landscape maps, and insights on emerging sub-sectors such as digital engineering, cloud, data analytics, and healthcare technology.

What We are Looking For:

Educational Qualification: CA Finalists (both groups of CA Intermediate cleared) or CFA Level I cleared candidates.

Prior articleship/internship experience in relevant roles (e.g., M&A advisory, FP&A, equity research, transaction support, or investor relations) demonstrating the ability to apply financial analysis and valuation methodologies will be an advantage.

A self-starter with a strong curiosity for the technology ecosystem and emerging business models.

Diligent about tracking innovative companies, market trends, and investment activity across tech sub-sectors.

Strong research capabilities with the ability to manage, structure, and curate large databases, lists, and information sets in Excel or CRM tools.

Ability to connect insights from the startup and venture world to strategic M&A and investment opportunities in the technology sector.
