Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation & Control Engineer to design, develop, and commission control panels and automation systems for oil & gas operations. The engineer will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, from panel design and GAD preparation to estimation, integration, and field commissioning, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production and process equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Panel Design:
- Design control panels (manual, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, or automated) according to project specifications and industry standards.
- Select and specify control components including switches, indicators, relays, actuators, PLCs, and sensors.
- Ensure ergonomic layout and compliance with electrical and safety standards.
- General Arrangement Drawing (GAD) Preparation:
- Prepare detailed GADs showing panel layout, sensor and actuator placement, cabling, and valve arrangements.
- Coordinate with mechanical and operations teams to ensure accessibility, maintenance, and installation feasibility.
- Estimation:
- Develop material and component cost estimates for panel fabrication and instrumentation.
- Estimate labor and commissioning effort.
- Ensure project budget compliance and provide recommendations for cost optimization.
- Integration:
- Interface panels with valves, actuators, sensors, and SCADA/DCS systems.
- Perform signal compatibility checks, communication protocol setup (Modbus, HART, etc.), and loop checks.
- Ensure reliable operation of all instrumentation, alarms, and interlocks.
- Commissioning & Field Support:
- Supervise installation and field wiring of control panels.
- Conduct functional testing of valves, sensors, alarms, and control logic.
- Prepare commissioning reports, as-built drawings, and operation manuals.
- Provide operator training on safe and effective panel operation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Engineering (Petroleum specialization preferred).
- 1-2+ years of experience in control systems, panel design, or oil & gas instrumentation.
- Strong knowledge of API standards, electrical codes, and SCADA/DCS integration.
- Hands-on experience with valves, actuators, PLCs, and sensors in oil & gas operations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar engineering design software.
Skills & Competencies:
