Key Responsibilities
Server & Hardware Deployment
- Lead hardware provisioning, including advanced RAID configuration and disk array optimization for high-write-volume applications (e.g., video storage systems)
- Configure and validate Dell iDRAC and Lifecycle Controller settings, ensure firmware baselines with Dell OpenManage
- Deploy operating systems via PXE boot or iDRAC Virtual Media, including Windows Server and hardened Linux distributions
Network Configuration & Optimization
- Design and implement network segmentation using VLANs and dedicated subnets to isolate security traffic from management networks
- Configure QoS policies on Cisco Catalyst switches for prioritized video streams
- Manage PoE/PoE+ budgeting on access layer switches to ensure reliable power to IP cameras and security panels
- Harden Cisco IOS devices by configuring ACLs, disabling unnecessary services, and securing management protocols (SSH/HTTPS)
Testing, Validation & Documentation
- Conduct bandwidth, latency, and physical layer validation testing before operational handoff
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation: topology diagrams, VLAN matrices, IP records, configuration backups
- Maintain accurate asset management records throughout deployment lifecycle
Collaboration & Support
- Coordinate with network engineers and physical security teams to validate device-to-server communication paths
- Provide 24x7 technical support for medium-complexity issues, performing root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvement initiatives
- Deliver weekly project status updates and maintain as-built documentation
