As Infrastructure (DevOps) Engineer, you will engage actively with cross-functional teams to build and maintain secure, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure for R&D activities. Position Description
As an Infrastructure Systems Engineer, you will engage actively with cross-functional teams to build and maintain secure, scalable and cost-effective infrastructure for R&D activities. You will be responsible for provisioning, installing and maintaining systems in physical and virtual (both on-prem and cloud) environments. You will bring a high level of enthusiasm, service mindset, and good industry practices along with the technical skills required to help you succeed in this role.
Major Responsibilities
- Administer infrastructure of physical & virtual environments.
- Deploy and maintain systems for verification, validation and evaluation activities.
- Install and configure software for 3rd party collaboration.
- Work with stakeholders to identify ways to improve the installation of Varian software.
- Document processes on infrastructure & environments and share information with colleagues.
- Support colleagues and share knowledge on infrastructure, environments, and deployments with them.
Job Requirements
Required skills:
- Knowledge of virtualization and cloud computing (e.g. VMware, Azure)
- Willingness to learn new virtualization platforms
- Knowledge of server administration (e.g. Windows Server)
- Knowledge of infrastructure maintenance (e.g. security, data backup/retention/recovery).
- Good communication in spoken and written English with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Service mindset in collaborating effectively with internal and external customers.
Other Desired Skills
- Citrix/Parallels experience
- Scripting experience (e.g. PowerShell).
- Experience with Microsoft Azure Administration
Typical Education And Experience
Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or Computer Engineering with 5 years of related experience; or equivalent knowledge and skills.
Environment and Physical
Demands
There may be occasional periods of physically demanding activity when working onsite with lab/server room equipment and hardware.
Ability to Travel
Travel may be required (up to 5% of time)
Location considerations
Work requires daily collaboration with stakeholders, team members in European time zones, occasionally with US time zones.
