- Design firewall/gateway strategy, including segmentation, policies, and secure access, with emphasis on security best practices.
- Act as a SME for key network technologies, including (desirable) firewalls, switching, and related equipment.
- Help design the on-prem computing and storage platforms, including hardware standards for multiple workload requirements, including VDI and Remote Session services, running CAD and engineering applications.
- Lead the design, improvement, and administration of virtualisation platforms, especially VMware vSphere and its enterprise features (e.g., DRS, vMotion, distributed switching).
- Ensure infrastructure is fully documented, monitored, and governed by appropriate standards and processes, such as Change Management.
- Work with other IT Ops members to implement SLA and metrics across the infra stack.
- Support troubleshooting of networking, computing and virtualisation issues.
- Collaborate with security teams on network hardening, monitoring, and incident response.
- Provide input on technology roadmaps and contribute to long-term IT strategy.
- Mentor and support technical staff on networking and virtualisation best practices.
