We are seeking an experienced Infra Solution Architect to lead infrastructure upgrades and platform migrations, focusing on RHEL environments and POSIT tools.
You will be responsible for designing migration strategies, managing parallel environments, and ensuring seamless integration of upgraded systems. This role requires deep expertise in Linux administration, scripting, and R-Studio ecosystem management. Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and planning for infrastructure upgrades with emphasis on RHEL platform migrations
- Define and execute cutover strategies to manage parallel environments during upgrades
- Design end-to-end migration processes for POSIT platforms including Workbench, Connect, and Package Manager
- Assess operational risks and dependencies ensuring smooth production environment integration
- Establish comprehensive testing strategies covering functional, regression, performance, and compatibility
- Collaborate with QA and operations teams to develop test plans and maintain platform stability
- Oversee content migration involving R packages, Python packages, data, and applications ensuring data integrity and version control
- Develop iterative release roadmaps to enhance package and tool management within the POSIT ecosystem
- Lead installation, upgrade, and patching processes for RStudio tools
- Manage quarterly rebuilding of R as part of release cycles
- Apply change management procedures to ensure timely and smooth deployments
- Mentor and lead technical teams throughout migration projects
Requirements
- 11-16 years of overall experience in Software Engineering
- Extensive experience of 7+ years as a Technical Architect or Systems Engineer in infrastructure upgrades and platform migrations
- Advanced knowledge of Linux administration and operating system principles
- Proven ability to manage parallel environments and define cutover strategies for seamless transition
- Hands-on experience with POSIT tools, including RStudio Workbench, Connect, and Package Manager
- Demonstrated capability to lead large-scale technical migrations covering testing, change management, and release planning
- Background in content migration of R packages, Python packages, and related tools
- Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring technical teams during complex migrations
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell scripting and Bash
Nice to have
- Familiarity with R package and Python package management processes
- Programming skills in Python for automation and script handling
- Experience with GitLab workflows and Docker container environments
- Knowledge of integrating Shiny applications into RStudio Connect
