Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for an Industrial Designer located in Bengaluru. The Industrial Designer will play a key role in creating and refining product designs, developing prototypes, conducting user research, and implementing design thinking strategies to deliver innovative and functional products. The individual will collaborate with various teams to ensure that product development aligns with client objectives and industry standards.

Role & responsibilities

End-to-End Product Design:

  • Own product design from concept ideation, industrial styling, and ergonomics to detailed mechanical design and manufacturing-ready outputs.

Mechanical Engineering & Detailing:

  • Design enclosures, housings, and structural components, create 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, GD&T, and ensure DFM/DFA-compliant, cost-effective designs.

Materials & Manufacturing Expertise:

  • Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes (Injection molding, sheet metal, CNC, die casting, 3D printing) aligned with performance, quality, and scalability.

Problem Solving & Ownership:

  • Independently identify design constraints, technical challenges, and integration issues, take ownership, and drive practical solutions with minimal supervision.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Execution:

  • Work closely with electronics, firmware, prototyping, manufacturing, and clients to support prototyping, testing, validation, and production troubleshooting.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Design / Product Design with 34 years of hands-on experience in industrial and mechanical product design.

Design & CAD Proficiency:

  • Strong expertise in 3D CAD and surface modeling tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360, or equivalent, with the ability to create production-ready drawings.

Manufacturing & Materials Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances, and DFM/DFA principles, especially for electronics-related products.

Problem-Solving & Ownership Mindset:

  • Ability to independently analyze design constraints, resolve technical challenges, and take end-to-end ownership of assigned products with minimal supervision.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Strong communication skills with experience working across electronics, firmware, prototyping, vendors, and clients, along with the ability to present design concepts clearly.
