The Benefits Manager - Leave of Absence (LOA) & Employee Support is responsible for the administration and oversight of employee benefits, with a specialized focus on leave management (FMLA, disability, workers compensation, parental leave, and other protected absences). This role serves as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits and LOA, ensures accurate data and system feeds between benefits vendors and internal HRIS/payroll, and supports a positive employee experience through clear communication, education, and guidance.
Responsibilities
Leave of Absence Administration
Administer LOA programs (FMLA, state leave laws, disability, workers compensation,
personal leaves, etc.).
Provide empathetic and clear employee guidance on leave rights, return-to-work
expectations, and benefit impacts.
Ensure proper documentation, tracking, and compliance with federal and state laws.
Partner with managers and HR to support transitions, accommodations, and employee
return-to-work plans.
Benefits Administration & Compliance
Oversee benefit eligibility, enrollments, life event processing, and employee inquiries.
Maintain compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and other governing
regulations.
Support plan audits, annual open enrollment, and vendor performance reviews.
Data Feeds & Vendor Integration
Manage benefit file feeds and integrations with payroll, HRIS, and benefit
vendors/carriers.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data errors impacting benefits, payroll deductions,
and LOA pay.
Partner with IT, payroll, and vendors to improve feed accuracy and efficiency.
Manage Vendors - Broker, 401k, Ancillary Benefits
Employee Support & Communication
Provide direct one-on-one support for employees navigating benefits and leave
questions with empathy and clarity.
Lead educational communication such as benefit guides, employee notices, FAQs, and
training sessions.
Ensure LOA conversations are confidential, supportive, compliant, and well documented
