Who we are looking for:
The Managing Director, Collateral Management (India), is a senior leadership role within the Global Collateral Management Team, part of Global Delivery. This position is responsible for the strategic direction, operational management, and delivery of collateral management services, ensuring exceptional client outcomes and adherence to State Street standards. As such we are looking for an experienced financial services leader with a deep functional expertise in Middle Office and particularly in the Collateral management space.

The Head of Collateral, India, will be responsible for ensuring State Street delivers service excellence through a consistent Global Middle Office collateral service offering that unifies all aspects of service and delivery through common goals, oversight, and consistent client experience across all regions.
What you will be responsible for:
Scope
- Cross client collateral management and processing, including direct client interaction with senior executives and portfolio managers.
- Management of large direct organizations across India
- Strategic change and technology adoption across the Collateral service within State Street globally
Leadership
- Drive delivery of goals and expectations to ensure consistent service delivery with key metrics to measure progress and celebrate success
- Lead by example in demonstrating behaviors of a high performing culture in which people operate to deliver client outcomes, with a One State Street mindset. Cutting across organizational boundaries to create common goals with clear performance expectations and client outcomes
- Effectively manage staff on both direct and virtual teams across Operating Centers by driving the mission of the Global Middle Office create opportunities for emerging talent to move into stretch assignments proactive succession and development planning
- Provide subject matter expertise to the team and to the client on the management, processing and delivery of collateral positions in financial markets globally.
- Deepen the team's collective knowledge and effectiveness by bringing insights, innovation and solutions to the team and ensuring sustainable best practice across the full suite of products and services Global Middle Office offers
- Senior management, legal entity boards, second and third lines of defense are informed of all relevant operational and service issues, risks, and risk events in a timely manner
Deliver Service and Operational Excellence
- Ensure all Collateral Management activities and services are delivered to clients in accordance with contractual and service level agreements, focusing on client outcomes and organizational collaboration.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy and timeliness, with a continuous focus on improving quality and productivity.
- Teams document and adhere to operating policies, procedures, and controls.
- Track key metrics, performance, and risk indicators to manage growth, service quality, cost, productivity, efficiency, and risk. Identify opportunities for transformation and capacity creation.
- Manage headcount and expenses to achieve agreed efficiency targets.
- Represent Collateral Management at client meetings, presentations, and due diligence reviews.
- Lead business continuity planning and execution, developing a scalable and resilient operating model.
- Support control, risk, compliance/ethics, and internal audit reviews, ensuring no open or overdue actions.
- Develop and lead a large team, fostering high performance, effective communication, talent development, employee engagement, and succession planning.
Education & Preferred Qualifications:
- 18 years + experience in financial services, presently in a leadership role managing large Investment Management operations.
- Technical knowledge of collateral management activities and associated regulations is a minimum mandatory expected requirement
- Experience with change management programs in sponsorship, leadership roles. Demonstrated ability to execute under challenging circumstances and deliver targeted outcomes and in particular technology transformation is a must
- Experience interfacing at a senior level with Clients, service providers and Regulators
- Navigate a large, global organization. Build meaningful relationships and develop an effective network.
- Work successfully in a matrixed environment. Effectively manage multiple stakeholders, determine highest priorities for the organization, identify and resolve contention between directives.
- Proven leadership skills as well as managing and developing a high performing operations team.
- Proven track record of achieving/exceeding financial goals through expense discipline and headcount management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage, coach and influence colleagues and virtual team members.
- Cross-cultural awareness and the ability to connect with colleagues globally in a collaborative, open work environment. To serve as a role model of acceptance and flexibility in dealing with colleagues with varying backgrounds.
- Experience of Vermeg's Colline collateral management solution would be beneficial
- Willingness for business travel where required.
