Job Description

  • Lead the implementation of EHS programs and safety culture initiatives during the startup and expansion of the Hyderabad office
  • Ensure compliance with local and national regulatory requirements related to EHS
  • Align all EHS efforts with Amgen policies, procedures, and expectations
  • Develop and implement a training, communication, and awareness plan for all employees
  • Establish and maintain a strong ergonomics program and processes to promote worker comfort and safety
  • Collaborate with office leadership and other key partners to promote and ensure EHS initiatives are effectively implemented
  • Conduct trend analysis and provide regular leadership communication on safety performance and initiatives
  • Oversee and manage incident reporting and ensure appropriate injury management through collaboration with the Occupational Health group
  • Lead safety culture programs and continuously improve office safety protocols and risk mitigation strategies

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) experience OR
  • Master's degree with 8–10 years of EHS experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree with 10–14 years of EHS experience OR
  • Diploma with 14–18 years of EHS experience

Key Experience Areas:

  • Ergonomics and creating programs to improve employee comfort and prevent injuries
  • Safety Culture and driving cultural change in an organization to emphasize safety
  • Laboratory Safety and construction/facilities safety
  • Fire, life safety, and evacuation protocols
  • Slip/Trip and Fall prevention
  • Injury prevention and incident management
  • Environmental compliance and sustainability

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of ergonomics and safety program implementation
  • Project management experience to lead and execute EHS initiatives effectively
  • Strong understanding of EHS regulations specific to office-based operations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with diverse teams and senior leadership
  • Broad knowledge of EHS programs, including laboratory safety and fleet safety
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with data management

Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills to inspire and drive the safety culture
  • Effective at building relationships and collaborating across various levels of the organization
  • Proactive and self-starting with a high level of initiative
  • Excellent at program development and project management in dynamic and evolving environments
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment
