Position Overview
The IGCSE & IB Visual Arts Facilitator delivers high-quality visual arts instruction aligned with Cambridge IGCSE and International Baccalaureate frameworks. The role encourages creative expression, critical inquiry, and artistic skill development while fostering an appreciation of global art traditions within a diverse international school community.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging Visual Arts lessons aligned with Cambridge IGCSE and IB curricula
Facilitate inquiry-based, student-centered learning that promotes experimentation and creative risk-taking
Teach a range of media, techniques, and processes (e.g., drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, digital art)
Guide students in developing strong artistic processes, visual literacy, and critical reflection
Prepare students effectively for internal assessments, coursework, portfolios, exhibitions, and external examinations
Integrate art history, theory, and global cultural perspectives into studio practice
Design and assess formative and summative tasks in line with curriculum criteria
Provide constructive, individualized feedback to support artistic growth
Support students in maintaining process journals, sketchbooks, portfolios, and digital documentation
Ensure accurate assessment records and contribute to student reports
Mentor students in developing confidence, independence, and artistic identity
Support diverse learners through differentiation and inclusive practices
Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and creative development
Promote safe studio practices and responsible use of materials and equipment
Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, moderation, and interdisciplinary learning
Participate in exhibitions, school events, and extracurricular arts activities
Engage in ongoing professional development, including IB and Cambridge training
Contribute positively to the school's international ethos and creative culture
Conduct additional support classes for students if needed.
Guide students in Extended Essay coursework.
Qualifications & Experience
Master's degree in visual arts, Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field
Recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent)
Minimum 3 years of experience teaching IGCSE Visual Arts and/or IB Visual Arts
Strong understanding of studio-based assessment and portfolio requirements
Skills & Competencies
Experience in an international or multicultural school setting (preferred)
Strong artistic practice and broad knowledge of visual arts media and techniques
Ability to inspire creativity and critical thinking
Excellent communication and classroom facilitation skills
Strong organizational skills for managing materials, displays, and exhibitions
Cultural sensitivity and adaptability in a diverse learning environment
Proficiency with digital tools, photography, and portfolio platforms
