Senior Legal Associate - Business Integrity & Data Privacy (Ice Cream)

As a Senior Legal Associate within the Ice Cream Legal Powerhouse, you will provide crucial, structured support to the team and the broader business.

Your responsibilities will encompass: (i) assisting the Global Business Integrity Team in their business partnering, core compliance, and investigations to uphold business integrity; and (ii) serving as the initial point of contact for our brands and functions navigating Ice Cream's privacy processes.

This role demands a strong ethical compass, exceptional communication skills, proficiency in working with data, and a passion for making a positive impact.

Responsibilities:

Business Integrity

  • Play a key role in managing the speak-up program, including generating reports, ensuring timely and high-quality case closures, and providing guidance and feedback to investigators.
  • Conduct quality control checks on investigation reports and outcomes to ensure alignment with Ice Cream policies and standards.
  • Triage and resolve conflict of interest and gifts & hospitality disclosures, applying a risk-based approach and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Mitigate third-party red flag risks by collaborating with subject matter experts and various business units.
  • Support global Business Integrity efforts by ensuring Ice Cream employees complete mandatory learning programs.
  • Collaborate with other functions and regions to foster a culture of integrity and ethical leadership across Ice Cream.

Data Privacy

  • Supporting the markets:Act as the first point of contact for our brands and functions during the privacy risk assessment process.
  • Support data protection advisors within the legal teams in various markets to manage Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and Privacy Risk Assessments (PRAs).
  • Assist with operational privacy tasks such as data mapping.
  • Work collaboratively with local data protection advisors, the Central Data Privacy Legal team, and Business stakeholders on new global projects, including supporting global privacy risk assessments.
  • Report on trends in privacy requests/issues, generate standard reports, and contribute to the team's goal of becoming more data-driven in its decisions.
  • Protecting our consumers and employees:Manage updates to the global privacy notice and serve as the primary contact for individuals who contact Ice Cream centrally with privacy queries.
  • Oversee the process for controlling access to documentation.
  • Support the central Data Privacy Legal team in ensuring Ice Cream employees receive privacy training.

This role involves significant interaction with employees globally. Key stakeholders include:

  • Business Integrity and the broader Legal function
  • Subject matter experts in areas such as information security, occupational health, human resources, quality, competition, and privacy.

  • Data privacy team

Key Skills & Relevant Experience

  • Professional qualification in Law.
  • Experience in ethics and compliance operations.
  • Privacy experience or proven experience in the compliance or risk sector.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills (essential).
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in matters related to compliance, investigations, regulatory affairs, case management, or other relevant areas for a global ethics and compliance team.
  • 5 years of industry experience working within a large, complex business environment requiring data analysis and balanced risk decision-making.
  • Experience providing risk-based advice on various types of compliance interactions.
  • Proven ability to achieve outcomes and results by influencing resources not directly under your control.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across multiple time zones and countries.
  • Willingness and drive for process excellence.
  • Experience using Microsoft tools for data management and visualization, particularly Excel or PowerBI.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferable

  • Experience within a consumer goods or retail environment.
  • Broader proficiency across Microsoft tools like SharePoint and Power Automate to innovate and improve ways of working around documentation and workflow management.
