Job Description

Pradeepit Consulting Services is actively seeking an experienced IBM WAS Administrator to join our client's dynamic team. This pivotal role requires strong expertise in the administration of IBM WebSphere Application Server (versions 8.x, 9.x, or later), including its clustering, failover, and load balancing capabilities. You'll manage application deployments, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure the security and optimal performance of WebSphere environments, operating within a 24x7 shift-based support model.

Key Responsibilities

  • WebSphere Administration: Administer IBM WebSphere Application Server (versions 8.x, 9.x, or later). Manage WebSphere clustering, failover, and load balancing configurations.
  • Application Deployment & Troubleshooting: Oversee application deployment processes and troubleshoot deployment issues.
  • Integration: Integrate IBM WebSphere with databases such as Oracle, DB2, or MySQL. Integrate with IBM MQ or similar messaging middleware.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize JVM settings, garbage collection policies, and thread pools. Configure JDBC and connection pool tuning.
  • Security Management: Implement SSL/TLS, configure keystores/trust stores, and manage roles and access controls to secure WAS environments. Understand Single Sign-On (SSO) and authentication protocols like LDAP, SAML, or OAuth.
  • Documentation & Support: Document installation, configuration, and operational procedures for WebSphere environments. Provide support for critical issues outside business hours within a 24x7 shift-based support environment.
  • Process Adherence: Awareness of ITSM processes including Incident, Problem, Change, and Release management.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of IBM WebSphere Application Server administration (versions 8.x, 9.x, or later).
  • Expertise in WebSphere clustering, failover, and load balancing.
  • Deep understanding of Java EE architecture, including EJBs, servlets, and JMS.
  • Proficiency in managing application deployment and troubleshooting deployment issues.
  • Experience integrating with databases (Oracle, DB2, MySQL) and messaging middleware (IBM MQ).
  • Knowledge of JDBC configuration and connection pool tuning.
  • Ability to optimize JVM settings, garbage collection, and thread pools.
  • Proficient in implementing SSL/TLS and configuring keystores/trust stores.
  • Understanding of SSO and authentication protocols (LDAP, SAML, OAuth).
  • Ability to document WebSphere environments.
  • Willingness to work in a 24x7 shift-based support environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive and proactive attitude towards troubleshooting.
  • Flexible to learn new technologies.
  • Awareness of ITSM processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Basic Telecom domain knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience with wsadmin scripting (Jython or Jacl) is a plus.
  • Ability to write Unix Shell Scripts is a plus.
  • Awareness of DevOps tools is a plus.
  • Awareness of Oracle PL-SQL concepts and ability to understand simple PL-SQL code is a plus.
  • Experience in administration of IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM) is a plus.

Qualifications

  • IBM Certified System Administrator WebSphere Application Server certification.
  • Proven experience in IBM WebSphere Application Server administration (versions 8.x, 9.x, or later).
