- Must Have : IBM MQ / Websphere/ IBM AIXWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior IBM MQ Platforms Engineer to provide expert-level support and maintenance for IBM MQ, Websphere, and IBM AIX environments. The engineer will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and scalability of our messaging platform, handling critical integration between applications, servers, and external systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with IBM MQ administration, troubleshooting, and optimization in a complex enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the IBM MQ environment, including installation, configuration, and patching across multiple instances.
- Ensure high availability and optimal performance of IBM MQ messaging systems by monitoring queues, channels, and logs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to IBM MQ, Websphere, and IBM AIX, including connectivity, performance, and configuration-related incidents.
- Collaborate with development teams and other IT teams to design and implement integrations using IBM MQ.
- Perform capacity planning, configuration management, and performance tuning to optimize the messaging platform.
- Implement security measures, including access controls, encryption, and auditing, to meet compliance requirements.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing, ensuring proper failover mechanisms are in place for IBM MQ systems.
- Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, monitoring procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide L2/L3 support for IBM MQ issues and act as the primary point of escalation for complex problems.
- Implement and manage Websphere applications, including configuring and troubleshooting application servers.
- Support IBM AIX system administration, including system updates, patches, and user access management
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience working with IBM MQ, including installation, administration, and troubleshooting in production environments.
- Strong expertise in Websphere Application Server management, configuration, and performance tuning.
- Extensive experience with IBM AIX system administration, including user management, file system management, and performance tuning.
- Proven experience in message-driven architectures, message queuing, and managing large-scale messaging systems.
- In-depth knowledge of MQ Security, including SSL, client-server authentication, and access control.
- Experience in Linux/Unix environments and system scripting (e.g., Shell, Perl, or Python).
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools for IBM MQ (e.g., IBM Tivoli, BMC Patrol, etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues across multiple systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of ITIL practices, particularly in incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Certifications in IBM MQ or Websphere administration are a plus.
