Company Description
SOVO International School is Chandigarh Tricity's first IB-curriculum school where children learn by doing through play and exploration not rote instruction. Our approach integrates the IB Early Years Programme philosophy with play-based inquiry, Japanese principles of independence through responsibility, and Nordic emotional safety to nurture confident, curious, and capable young learners.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an IB Early Years Programme (EYP) Homeroom Teacher/Facilitator based in Sector 69, Mohali. As a facilitator, you'll observe carefully, provoke thinking through intentional questioning, and scaffold learning while honoring each child's developmental stage and unique learning journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Play-Based Inquiry: Design rich learning provocations and play experiences that spark curiosity, exploration, and conceptual understanding aligned with IB Early Years framework
- Observe and Document Learning: Use ongoing observational assessments, learning stories, photos, and portfolios to capture and reflect on each child's development and progress
- Nurture the Whole Child: Support cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and language development through integrated, developmentally appropriate experiences
- Foster Early Learner Profile Attributes: Cultivate curiosity, courage, kindness, respect, thoughtfulness, and independence in young learners
- Create Inquiry-Rich Environments: Design flexible indoor and outdoor learning spaces with open-ended materials that invite exploration, creativity, and problem-solving
- Support Language Development: Encourage communication through storytelling, conversations, songs, dramatic play, and rich literacy experiences in English
- Build Trusting Relationships: Maintain a 1:5 adult-to-child ratio to provide responsive, individualized care and create an emotionally safe classroom community
- Collaborate with Specialists: Work closely with the early years team, specialists (music, PE, art), and the in-house child psychologist to support holistic development
- Partner with Families: Communicate regularly with parents about their child's learning journey, developmental milestones, and how to extend inquiry at home
- Reflect and Grow: Participate in collaborative planning sessions, IB professional development, and reflective practice to deepen understanding of early childhood pedagogy
- Honor Children's Agency: Follow the child's lead, listen to their theories and ideas, and support their emerging interests and questions
