Qualification: MBA/PGDM in Human Resource Management or equivalent
Position Overview
The Head of Department Human Resources will lead the HR of the company.,
ensuring efficient management of payroll, compliance with labour laws, employee
engagement, and workforce development. This role is crucial in aligning HR policies and
practices with the company's operational requirements in the mining sector. The
incumbent will oversee all HR processes, including salary disbursement for Coal Mine
Workers (CMW) and HPC employees, payroll administration through ERP, statutory
compliances (EPF/CMPF), training initiatives, and workforce planning.
Role Overview
The Head of Department Human Resources will lead the HR of the company.,
ensuring efficient management of payroll, compliance with labour laws, employee
engagement, and workforce development. This role is crucial in aligning HR policies and
practices with the company's operational requirements in the mining sector. The
incumbent will oversee all HR processes, including salary disbursement for Coal Mine
Workers (CMW) and HPC employees, payroll administration through ERP, statutory
compliances (EPF/CMPF), training initiatives, and workforce planning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Payroll & Salary Disbursement
- Oversee monthly salary disbursement for CMW/HPC categories, ensuring
accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage complete payroll processing through ERP, including wage
calculations, overtime, and deductions.
- Ensure reconciliation of payroll data with finance for accurate reporting.
2. Statutory Compliance & Employee Benefits
- Ensure full compliance with EPF, CMPF, ESIC, Bonus Act, Gratuity, and other
statutory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records for audits and inspections.
- Liaise with statutory bodies, labour inspectors, and government agencies.
3. HR Policy & Process Implementation
- Develop, review, and implement HR policies aligned with mining sector
regulations and company culture.
- Standardize HR processes across all mining sites for uniformity and
transparency.
- Maintain employee discipline and handle grievances in line with company policy
and labour laws.
4. Labour Law & Industrial Relations
- Ensure compliance with Mines Act, Factory Act, Payment of Wages Act,
Minimum Wages Act, Contract Labour Act and other applicable laws.
- Manage union relations and support collective bargaining processes.
- Act as a mediator in labour disputes and ensure a harmonious work
environment.
5. Training & Development
- Identify skill gaps and design training programs for workforce upskilling.
- Implement induction, safety training, and competency enhancement programs
for mining operations staff.
- Collaborate with departmental heads to create career development paths.
6. Workforce Planning & Employee Engagement
- Manage manpower planning, recruitment, and retention strategies.
- Drive employee engagement initiatives to improve morale, productivity, and
safety compliance.
- Conduct performance appraisals and support career progression initiatives.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of mining industry HR practices and statutory compliances.
- Expertise in payroll management, ERP systems, and wage disbursement.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to lead HR operations across multiple mining locations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
