Role Overview
The Plant HR Manager will be responsible for driving all human resource functions at the manufacturing plant, ensuring alignment with business goals, compliance standards, and operational efficiency. This role plays a critical part in building a disciplined, performance-driven, and compliant workforce in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. HR Operations & Plant HR Management
Lead end-to-end HR operations for the plant, including onboarding, attendance, payroll coordination, and exit processes
Ensure smooth workforce management for blue-collar and white-collar employees
Maintain HR systems, employee records, and statutory documentation
2. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
Manage hiring for plant roles (operators, technicians, supervisors, etc.)
Plan manpower requirements in coordination with production and maintenance teams
Ensure timely recruitment with a focus on quality and cost efficiency
3. Employee Relations & Industrial Relations (IR)
Maintain healthy employee relations and a positive work environment
Handle grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution
Manage union interactions (if applicable) and ensure IR stability
4. Statutory Compliance & Legal
Ensure compliance with all labour laws, including PF, ESIC, Factory Act, CLRA, etc.
Maintain compliance records, registers, and audit readiness
Coordinate with government authorities and handle inspections
5. Performance Management & Development
Drive performance management systems and appraisal processes
Identify training needs and implement L&D initiatives
Support leadership development and succession planning
6. Payroll & Compensation
Oversee payroll inputs, validation, and coordination with finance
Ensure accuracy in wages, overtime, and statutory deductions
7. HR Policies & Culture Building
Implement HR policies, SOPs, and company culture initiatives
Drive employee engagement activities and retention strategies
Promote discipline, safety culture, and ethical practices
8. Health, Safety & Compliance Culture
Work closely with EHS team to ensure safety compliance
Support audits related to food safety (FSSAI, ISO, HACCP, etc.)
Ensure adherence to hygiene and safety standards
Key Requirements
Experience: 10+ years in HR, with at least 4–5 years in plant/manufacturing HR (Food/FMCG preferred)
Strong knowledge of labour laws and statutory compliance
Proven experience in industrial relations and workforce handling
Exposure to food manufacturing compliance standards (FSSAI, HACCP, ISO) is preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, shop-floor-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
MBA/PGDM in HR or equivalent
Experience in Food Processing / FMCG Manufacturing units
Hands-on experience with HRMS and payroll systems
